I mean, not to poop on anyone's parade, but isn't this like, a "regular" price?
I'm not tryign to be a smartass, but just, we seen cheaper, and this is the price of the other system by Dell too?

    • +4

Good deal in the current market when an RTX 3070 alone is ~$1700. Just checked PLE and they aren't taking pre-orders anymore.

      • +2

ah heck, wouldn't have known. that's crazy.

        • +2

Yeah it's only happened in the last few months.

          • @RI4V4N: Haha, yeah, can't say I've been paying too much attention. Too busy trying to get back into AUS. 😭🤦🏽‍♂️

            • +2

@The Milk Man: Basically the same thing is happening to houses and rental properties as well fyi, lol.

              • @RI4V4N: Still cheaper than where I live :P can't say I'm bothered! I am more bothered at the idea where am I supposed to get a system and WHEN will I to replace my 1080max-q laptop :(

                • @The Milk Man: Thats a nice username BTW! :)

      • +1

Yikes, bought my 3070 in Jan for $1100 (Asus TUF). 3080 is like $2200 and who knows what 3090 is now (it was shown as $2900 on OzStock i.e. OzBargains)

        • +1

Bought my 3080 geforce gaming around Christmas 2020 for $1600, And thought that was overpriced.

          • @cameldownunder: I got a quality 3070 for $1010 in a Black Friday deal and thought I was paying through the nose. Still using it, but it's getting to the point where I should take profits!

        • 3090 is like 3.5k for one in stock.

      • there's been a batch of 3070s sold at ~1.4k the past 3 days, prices seem to be coming down.

        • +1

Nah, they're going up. Scorptec was selling 3070s at $1300. Now they're $1450.

        • Where at my good buddie pal?

        • Whats the price on a RX 6800 XT?

  • +1

How does this compare with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/619439

    • +3

That one you linked has an additional 2TB HDD, the 11700k which is a slightly faster, overclockable chip with integrated graphics.

      • I bought that 10th gen version of the K variant. Its a pretty solid decent gaming machine. I'm pretty happy with it.

      • The xps 8940 also has a tower cooler (which us much better) instead of the stock intel one. I also bought the 10700k variety of xps 8940 and I am very happy with it

    • +3

XPS has better CPU (11700K vs. 10700F), Optical Drive, and 2TB of spinning rust. Front I/O is slightly different too…
      Worth the extra $140? Maybe?

      • +2

I think the CPU cooler is better as well

      • +1

It has a tower cooler which is much better than the stock intel cooler

  • Worth mentioning that even Dell's having issues with graphics card stocks. The wait time on my 3060 Ti build is over two months. And that was ordered mid April.

    • +1

This particular G5 3070 model is in stock on the Dell website, so that would likely not be an issue in this case.

      • +4

You're right. Even the G5 3060 Ti model is in stock according to their site. Wtf is going on with mine then.

        Classic Dell.

  • I just ordered this yesterday after the Techfast deal disappointed me. Just be aware the Dell G5 has cooling issues and you should probably budget to spend another $150 for a good fan and CPU cooler.
Heaps of web sites around talking about CPU temps around 100 degrees with this setup…

    • +3

Winter is just around the corner so double up as a heater.

      • +6

I assume this is a joke so don't whoosh me, but the higher temp of the actual components doesn't mean it's a better heater than the same computer with more effective cooling. Better cooling means the heat is moved away from the components into the surrounding air faster

        • I prefer oil heaters.

    • +7

That techfast deal disappointed everyone :(

    • +1

I got my G5 from previous deal.
I have done the following upgrade:
      - I have replaced cpu cooler with cooler master tx3 evo for $32.
      - PWM fan splitter $8 and used the original cpu fan as a front fan.

      Prime95 cpu burn-in:
      Before upgrading 85 degrees
      After upgrading 70 degrees
It might be different in summer.

      • Does it fit without any modifications on the dell motherboard?

  • I got this for 1799 last few weeks tbh

    • This was price jacked mid sale. Was out of stock until mid sale then went in stock for $200 more.

  • Is the Dell Inspiron 3881 a good price for $1200? Not looking for gaming just need it for web browsing, emails, office type use.

    • +2

Not really, HP recently sold a 3700X/16Gb/RTX2060 PC for $1200 delivered.

This one will do what you want, but it's not a good price.

      • Imao I recently purchased a techfast rtx 3060 pc for $1300, the difference in price really have sky rocketed

    • +2

better to buy one of these and sell the GPU

      • +1

        Correctus.

  • this has cooling problem, if you want to play any aaa games at high settings, changing the cpu cooler is a must.

You can get all the parts you need for less than 100, two fans, cpu cooler, a few screws, extenders etc, I don’t have any pc build experience, getting the parts and installing them was actually quite fun.

After the upgrade, very nice machine, playing cyberpunk at 2k ultra settings, no problem at all, cpu and gpu both around 70, not very loud.

  • +1

Good deal IF you missed out on the Alienware with the 3080. Extra $750 but the 3080 destroys the 3070. The Alienware's CPU is watercooled and I assume the Alienware will have better resale down the line.

4K Gaming? 3080 is the only way to go.

    • +1

Destroys? Or you are paying 30% more for 30% more performance anyway?

    • What about 3090???

      • destroys your wallet

        • So does my missus

  • How do these deals expire so quickly?

    • It was available since last week, but not until now someone posted it and ozbargained it.

    • It has been ages running it

  • Just an update for others : Mine got listed as posted today the 12th May
