Would absolutely love one of these, if they weren't just about to abandon it ¬¬

Only $10 extra for the non sprint version, unlockable bootloader.

    • Do you have an OS you’d recommend?

    • +1

This^. The unlocked bootloader will come in very handy when Google drops OS updates.

  • Just sold a refurbed 3XL 128GB white for $300.
Was a better phone than the pixel 5 (all bar the battery).
Don't mind the smaller form factor when out and about, typing takes a bit of getting used to but not too hard.

    • I recently bought the Pixel 3 a few days ago and then this comes up :(, I am thinking of gettign this as well and selling my pixel 3 or a stand by phone although i got so many phones as it is.
Why do you say its better than the pixel 5?

      • Pixel 5 is just a less premium one ($1k vs $1500), It's probably fine for most people though, and overall happy.

        Regarding Pixel 5:
        - the earpiece speaker is under the screen so just sounds weird when you're talking to someone like they are fairly distant, and the sound leaks out
        - hard to hear the speaker in noisy environments.
        - The external speakers are also not as loud/good quality as previous pixels with the bottom one louder than the top.
        - When I'm in the car, the mic can't hear me half the time.
        - CPU slower (get a refresh logo often)
        - Camera worse
        + Battery is awesome
        + More ram
        + apparently more water proof

Not sure how the camera on Pixel 5 is worse, it's mostly the same but with added dual exposure/shadow control which is great. HDR+ now properly expose faces while keeping the overall photo dark enough without brightening everything just to expose faced better. Video recording is heaps better as well and you can do 4K 60FPS. Trade off front ultrawide for rear ultrawide.

          • @Bigboomboom: Yeah the wide angle, but some of the specs I read Said something about not as good in low light and the shutter speed. Probably quite similar anyway at least.

            • @G-rig: That's just wrong, it actually has better low light (a bit) due to better white balance, brighter aperture and better noise control. Pixel 1-3 noise in low light is quite bad and 4-5 has better noise control.

              • @Bigboomboom: The reviews i read when i was buying the pixel 3 a few days ago said the Pixel 3 was awesome in low light compared to all the other phones around at the time?

                • @lonewolf: Yes that was more than 2 years ago. Pixel 4 & 5 has better low light photo than 3 but you probably won't see much unless you put it on a big screen, things like noise are harder to see on a tiny phone screen.

Pixel 4&5 is an incremental upgrade, not a huge leap but the improvement is definitely there. You can only do so much when the sensor hasn't changed since Pixel 2.

                  • @Bigboomboom: I am going from a Sony Xperia XZ Premium. I was surprised to find out my sony has more MP for the camera as well as quite close to the same GPU and CPU i think. But I presume theres more to phones than specs.

              • @Bigboomboom: They're similar enough in low light, whicg isn't great when you look at them on a computer screen later.. they aren't DSLR cameras

  • It's a great phone overall. I sold my 3XL last year and upgraded to 4XL. Absolutely love both phones

  • support ends Pixel 3 XL October 2021

    • What does that mean?

      • No more official software updates

        • +1

But Google Play Services and Chrome still update, no?

      • Won't be getting any more android version update

        • Stock usually good
Ps don't know who would want a pink pixel

  • After seeing those amazing target clearance deals and umigi digi a7 pro, xiaomi redmi notes, all the other phones just seem to be way way overpriced. Including this pixel

    • I’m looking for another phone because I’m sending back the umidigi a7 pro I got last week. Looks the part but it was stuck in a boot loop straight out of the box. Tried the factory reset etc but no luck. Support was useless too.

      • id suggest look out for one of the target phone deals if still available, otherwise look on banggood for some other one.

    • Cameras not even comparable to the pixel. If camera's important, not worth it

      • Depends how much one wants the camera, if they want the phone just for camera. then why not buy a proper camera,(like a proper DSLR or something) and save out on the phone.

Regarding the Google Photos Unlimited, Can I somehow make Google Photos think that my existing photos is taken by this Pixel?

    • No
