I'm pretty confident a 'member' is just a subscriber. So as long as the email you enter the comp with, is subscribed to the Stack email newsletter, you're a 'member'.

I've won from the JB Hifi Facebook page in the past but my entry was super witty. I always spent a bit of time thinking of what to write for STACK comps.
Yeh, most likely nothing but a loophole to call it a "game of skill" contest instead of "game of chance" to avoid the lottery permit laws.
