Boozebud: 20% Cashback (No Cap) @ ShopBack

180

Update: Looks like I erroneously include a $20 cap. In fact, there's no cap.

T&Cs1 234

Not quite the 30% we've been seeing recently (e.g. yesterday), but 20% used to be the maximum you could get. (We're being spoiled!)

Yesterday's 30% offer had a $30 cap, but today's doesn't have one at all.

  • Stack with amex 15% and amex shop small deals

    • The targeted AmEx 15% is already listed in the post.

What/where is the AmEx shop small deals?

      • +3

Thanks. Not sure how I missed it on the AmEx deals page when I looked there. Maybe I should have searched for "small" on that page.

  • I'm new to shopback. How likely will they pay the cashback?

I've just had 20%, 30% & 20% again in the past few days

    • -4

In the spirit of full honesty they likely wont pay it at all, however when the system works as advertised they allow you to nominate an account to have the funds paid (usually after a few months from date of purchase).

Honestly I'm getting pretty sick and tired of people saying this.

It seems to be a small number of very vocal people that are having issues. Try another device or another browser if you're having issues.

Shopback has been performing just as well as cashrewards for me - and their recent deals (Other than that single 30% off a $30 purchase deal from cashrewards) have been WAY better than cashrewards.

I wonder how many of the complainers are invested in cashrewards, now that they're public..

And don't hit me with the 'you can't have done large purchases through shopback then' I have done multiple multi hundred dollar purchases, including 2x NordVPN 90% cashback on $250 or so subscription. and it all worked perfectly.

        • The frustration goes both ways mate. The hypocrisy of you sharing your anecdotal evidence but discrediting mine as being a 'vocal minority' is tangible.

You say you've made multiple large purchases that have been successful, and I'm saying that I've made multiple large purchases and many have not. I've used different browsers on two different computers, updated plug-ins as instructed and have chased their support in times past to no avail. Just because you've had no issues doesn't mean I haven't, and similarly doesn't mean OP wont.

Some purchases have tracked fine for me, and several haven't. The inconsistency is unacceptable in a business in my opinion.
I'd say go ahead and use shopback for promos if you literally would have already bought at that price, or would not be disappointed if there's an error in your cashback. Then the successful cashback is a fabulous bonus, rather than a potential sore point.

What's the point of a commenting capacity in a buying forum if users cant share their experiences positive and negative? I've got no problem you saying you've had no difficulties, but whats the harm in trying to be civil? What do you have to gain from being so critical and negative?

@sjtem3: Saying 'In the spirit of full honesty they likely wont pay it at all' implies that everyone has issues with tracking.

Share your perspective, sure - but the way you shared it makes it sound like a larger problem than it is - which is confusing for newcomers - like the one you responded to. It sucks that you're having issues, please do let people know - but judging by the few comments every now and then, I would find it hard to believe you're anything but a minority. Personally i have a problem with people who have issues with shopback, phrasing it in a way that implies everyone does - when that is far from true.

@mahdoo: That's very fair. I was being flippant at the time of writing - I should have been more reflective of the potential for issues, rather than the certainty.

    • They pay pretty much all the time. There have been issues, but it sounds a lot worse than it actually is if you read OzB comments.

    • Shopback has a bad reputation on OzBargain but I have never had any issue with it. I've received nearly $200 of cash back from them

    • If your sale tracks (its a bit hit & miss, but mostly hit for me, as I use the app).

      1) If it tracks it'll show up as Pending
      2) You have to wait the pending period (~100 days for Boozebud)
      3) It appear as Available
      4) Then you can either withdraw (min $10) & have it sent to an Australian bank account, or Paypal (it takes 3-7 days)
Or you can use the balance against one of their giftcards (this is what I tend to do as its quick).

Ignore sjtem3's "they likely wont pay it at all". I, and a lot of (I'd dare say most) other users, have either had no (I've had none) or very few issues getting paid. Remember that it can take up to 120 days for the cashback to get approved depending on the store.

Granted, there's a very vocal (minority) group complaining of constant issues. Given the disparity between those of us with no issues and those with a lot of issues (including those with issues every time) I'm beginning to suspect that the majority of those with problems are due to something on their end irrespective of claims of "I followed all the rules and still it didn't track".

Tracking is much more complicated than just a cookie. Also, just because your (incorrect) setup/ordering procedure always works at one store doesn't mean it will also work at another–stores can, and do, have different ways of tracking cashback referrals. (Even if they use the same method, a particular store's implementation can be buggy.)

At lot of users, and the cashback sites themselves, recommend using the cashback stores' apps to eliminate as many variables as possible. I personally always use a VPN (not always through an AU server) on an iPad using Safari with the maximum number of tabs open, and sometimes have items already in my cart. I never clear caches/cookies, etc before making my purchase, though I do make sure there are no tracking/popup blockers active. All of these bar the last are not recommended and yet I've never had problems.

      • There was literally a forum post the other day about the number of customers who've experiences cashback discrepancies with shopback. It's not a scam business, but I think it's very fair to say that the number of errors and failures to track is more than insignificant, and worthy of caution as a new user.

With that said, if the product and price are good, then go for it, and the cashback can be a bonus.

  • Was 30% yesterday!

  • The OG 30% deal my cashback was missed….what crap

  • The $20 cap I had in my original post was wrong. Looks like there's no cap!

  • +2

Great deal, if you choose well priced whiskies you can get a genuine close to 30% off the nearest price. Confirmed no cap with tracking.

  • Is shopback having some technical issues?

All my confirmed cashback just disappeared in shopback?
