It was this price last week but a lot of people missed out due to stock levels.
I got one and shock horror it was delivered overnight from Melbourne to Perth metro (outside express post guarantee post code but they pulled it off anyway).

Hopefully those who missed out come across this post.

    • +1

Surprised me with pricing as I thought it won't be that cheap again for a while, great found op.

  • +1

I missed out last time… Not this time though…Also got the hardwire kit
    Thanks OP

    • +2

Let us know how you go with the hardwire kit. Apparently the Plus has parking buffering disabled due to unreliability :(

For this reason I’d like the pro but this price is hard to pass up….

      • +5

Any indication if it will be re-added later? IMHO that's a critical feature, and I won't be buying this model without it.

        • +2

Agreed, no parking mode is a deal breaker for me

      • +5

I’ve got the dashcam direct from VIOFO a few months back and did the wiring myself. About an 1.5h work but the cables are not visible. Parking recording works great but I’ve heard that they disabled it in the firmware upgrade so I’m not doing that.

      • Yes I just read that myself about the parking buffering being disabled, numerous hours after purchasing… It was one of the reasons I purchased this…
I think I will have to cancel or return if possible & get the Pro

        • +1

Just cancelled my order… I was told it was not possible to cancel but I explained that is advertised with the buffering parking mode but it has ceased for this model since January 2021…
She had a look then agreed to cancel entire order…
I would have liked this but the Pro Duo is what I require

  • +1

Bought to replace my A129 single

  • Thanks OP, been thinking for a while this would be a good investment. This tipped me over :)

  • -1

How does this rate with $20.00 Coupon - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07CT6JPYW/ref=emc_b_5_i
    comes down to $175.41

    • +3

That one is 1080p front cam, the one in the OP is 2k

    • +3

That's the plain Duo version (not plus). Front cam is 2K resolution in the Plus combo vs 1080p in the plain version.

Have seen many reviews suggesting the Plus combo is currently the bang for buck & real world utility sweet spot.

  • This or the garmin 66w / 56 ? I really would like to have the traffic camera warnings…
Also, all the garmin products I have are very reliable and I never had any issues

    • +1

Can you just use the Waze app on your phone to do the traffic camera warning?

      • True, but sometimes I do not want to take the phone out of my pocket. Lazy, I know

        • +1

Fair enough. Goes hand in hand with placing the keys in the ignition for me. Key in. Phone in the holder.

Where does the Garmin get the speed cam info from?

          • @OldBugger: no idea.. i suppose it has a database in the SD that periodically updates with the Garmin app?

          • +2

@OldBugger: This. Even if I know exactly where I am going, i at least put it on drive only mode to avoid getting done by a speed camera.

Got for just under this price directly from Viofo International website last year during Black Friday sales. Took a few weeks to arrive from overseas warehouse.

Very solid dashcam setup, and not too hard to self-install.

With local quick shipping and Amazon customer service if any problems, wouldn't hesitate on this deal if I didn't already have one :-).

    • Can you use it as a reverse cam? ie. View the rear camera through what I assume is the screen on the front cam? No output to an external screen I'm guessing.

      • Can set the screen to show back camera footage.

Problem is that it doesn't flip the view to be the same orientation as what you are looking at when forward facing i.e. your right shoulder in the driver's seat is equivalent to the left side of the back cam.

Unless you invert the image is not going to be much use as a reversing camera.

        • Gotcha, appreciate the answer. Thanks!

  • +1

I purchased this for $135 earlier this year from Banggood https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/595912

    • +2

Ignore that.. just realised this post is for the "plus"

  • Are these any good?

    • +2

Good quality, easy to setup and then forget. I bought mine and it was useful just two weeks later. Car is fixed and video is on Dashcams Australia YouTube channel…

      • Do these activate on car start up or have to manually start?

        • +3

Activate on startup whether it’s hard wired or plugged to the 12v port.

      • Link?

          • +1

@wert120: Aim the camera down more (so sky is max 1/3 of image) and it'll do better exposure and not have the cars dark.

            • @mattman: There is no more down - I'd be recording below my rear window - so a bit of trunk.

              • @wert120: Sorry timestamp link brought up a diff video first time (front facing, bad exposure). See yours now and it's all good :-)

  • +4

    Brought one… Don't know why.

Any tips for self install for someone who knows nothing about cars and isn't very handy 😂

    • +5

find someone that is and get them to do it. When you do, send me their no so I can get them to do mine too :D

    • +6

      Username DOESN'T check out!

If you're planning on using the 12v/cigarette light power adaptor and not hard wiring it in, just make sure you tuck the wires along the a pillar (the fabric/plastic covers against the windscreen) and out of the way of your feet if going down the drivers side way.
You can keep going across tucking or under the edge of the roof lining all the way to the back if you've got a sedan. A hatch/wagon may be slightly harder to run the rear cam wiring through a rubber grommet for the trunk electrics :)

      • Is the hardwire kit hard to install?

        • No, but you need a crimper. If you have a sparkie friend, they would have one.

    • +2

      *Bought

    • -1

Where did you bring it to?

    • If you're gonna pay someone to install, get the HK3 hardwire kit as you would need it for the parking mode, even though the bufferred parking mode doesn't work right now, I believe the timelapse and low bitrate still works.
P.S. not self advertising but I do these install as a side job. So if anyone have any questions or how to install feel free to message me

  • Been thinking about having a dashcam to be on the safer side….
Finally ordered one with a 4meter install wire
Any recommendation on the installation for a commodore that comes with a battery in the boot?

    • Where is your internal fuse box? I connected to it with fuse wires.

      • I don't know tbh. youtube says under the glove box.
Seems a little complicated for my level of knowledge.
I will need to look for an installation outside I guess.

  • Thanks, bopter12! Got one and a hardwire kit!

  • Thanks op.. got one

  • Any amazon gift card/coupon I can use?

  • +1

Sorry new to all this but is it necessary to hardwire? And if I do buy the hardwire kit what other equipment would I need? Thanks!

Edit: saw post above answering this :)

  • +3

Can't add to cart or buy now. OOS?

    • Had one in my cart and got the out of stock message at check out so they must be all gone

  • +4

    Showing as $238 now

  • +1

Shouldn't we veg the newer model like the A139?

  • Showing as $238

  • +2

Great price, but correct me if i'm wrong, from previous research i found the A129 plus duo cannot record 2K @ 60fps when the rear camera is connected. It drops to 30fps on the Front.
    That's why i went with the A129 Pro 4k front @30fps.

  • The Mrs Street Guardian just died after 3.5 years, so she's got mine and I'm looking to replace (I bought 2 identical ones from strathfield Autos ebay channel). How good are these compared to the Street guardian V2's? are these as good as the SG V3? (which I can just clip on to the existing wire and clip as they're the same shell and socket).

Any reason not to just replace the Street guardian with another one? Been a few years since I've been in the market for one!

  • +1

    i always miss these ffs

  • Does this support reverse camera Guide Lines? https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.carmud…

    • +1

I don't believe this is supposed to offer any reverse camera guidance/assistance but more so a recording device that happens to have a very small monitor to view/interact with (some never versions have dropped the screen all together but it's not intended to be used for an assistance device I don't belive)

  • +1

Has anyone got the Bluetooth button? Thought it would be good to use rather than trying to reach the button on the device

  • OOS

  • Price goes up to $237. About $25 up.

  • +3

Ordered one then cancelled when I saw that the parking buffer was removed in firmware. Total deal breaker.

    • +2

i cancelled then read about low bit rate and reordered…lol

  • +2

The same price is available again on back order if anyone needs.

  • Does anyone know how long I will get recording at max res (front and rear) on a 128GB micro SD card?

  • +1

    .
THANKS bopter12 for the post the (parking mode I don't need) the A129 plus picture quality is the best of both worlds ……which I do need :)

  • shopback $10.12 tracked… will it get decline?

  • Best dash cam to also monitor impacts and movement during vehicle parked and turned off , anyone?? Is it the blackvue?

    • Probably the A139.
