Looking to get Extra's only cover. Basically need to get new glasses and general dental clean. HIF used to be good back in day for $15 per month.
Just wondering if you guys recommend any insurer for extra's only.

It would be cheaper to just save $1000 a year in a bank account. General dental cleans are $200 * 2, and $600 for two pairs of glasses per year? That's plenty.
I changed to HIF for dental and ambo coverage. One of their options gives me the highest rebate and lowest premiums for my dental needs.
Look at HCF Starter Extras (with optical) for about $16.85 per month.

Sounds like you're wanting to join and claim now. Is that correct?
You're going to need a fund that is waiving waiting periods. My experience has been, however, that waiting periods are only waived as part of promotions that also require to take out hospital cover.
There's nothing stopping you dropping the cover immediately after claiming and getting a refund for unused premium.

I am with Medibank Health Start Extras - $337 per year. I get $400+ back in rebate according to their summary statement: $150 optical, 2*dental visits = $300 and I am on this med that apparently gets rebated too (I say apparently because I have not tried).
As long as I am at least breaking even, I don't mind staying on it. It comes with ambulance cover as well.
If you're into FF points the Qantas Assure Basic Extras is quite good. $29/month, 60% back on dental; cleans have no limit, general = $600, major = $600. 60% back on optical, $300 limit. Ambulance, physiotherapy, prescriptions. My teeth are older and need a bit of upkeep plus prescription glasses, sunglasses. You get access to the Qantas Wellbeing app where you earn points for being active, sleeping etc. I would earn close to 10,000 points/year and recently bought a flight Sydney to Ayers Rock for this much. So works out well for me.
