I've seen a couple that have been removed because it wasn't active yet, but then I saw the free slurpee deal was posted 2 months early before the actual free slurpee day.
I'm wondering because I was thinking about posting that OzGameShop is selling Gears of War 3 for $29.99 and Tekken 6 Limited Edition for $19.99 in 53 hours.
So... what's the OzBargain policy with posting deals before they start?

The only issue we have with non group buy deals, is that if they are too far in advance, then they tend to get lost, then people double post them.
So unless there is a very good reason, eg a current deal that would be bettered, and hence knowing its going to be superseded by the deal you will post, its probably best to hold off until it gets closer.
We have introduced the "add reminder" button , so people can alert themselves to a future deal, but most dont use it.
Again most people dont go back thru deals as they tend only to look at deals posted in last 24 hours, due to the volume of deals being posted.

There is no field when deals are submitted stating when they start so that would need to be added in addition to a calendar page. Reminders work the best ATM.
Just to sum up what ozpete and tal said, moderators do not moderate anything having to do with the deal being active other than for group buy/voucher sites.
The worst offender of posting a deal way too early was the IKEA eat your own discount deal, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/52269. Posted in September for a deal that didn't start until December. By the time the deal started people had forgetten or had resubmitted as a duplicate. We had to sticky the deal but voting was locked by that time.
there is a difference between deals that will become active, or fall into the category of advance notice, and then there are group buy deals that dont have the neccesary number of buyer's to make the deal active for others to buy into as well. The group deals are the deals more heavily moderated
