If so, what was your experience? Good quality product?
Looking at a new phone for my son and some good prices there for "Amazon renewed" iphones.

They are third party sellers but quality apparently controlled and monitored by Amazon.
No such thing. It could be fulfilled by Amazon but not quality control.
Just saw your link below.

Edit: Looks like they're an Amazon qualified supplier and they "come with a supplier-backed warranty" i.e. not Amazon directly, so up to you if you want the hassle going through it.
Applies to pretty much any refurb seller Amazon or otherwise though? And Apple themselves never seem to have any phones on their Australian refurb site.
@Brianqpr: Yea, I suppose. I wouldn't be adverse to giving it a go if it was for your son. I would consider the iPhone X as it's significantly better than the XR (I still daily drive my launch day X) but it's up to you whether worthwhile for his use case.
Can you post the refurb prices - amazon vs apple? so we can provide our opinions.
Here's an example:

Yes aware of that but apparently Amazon monitors sellers operating under "Amazon Renewed".
Bought S8+ from a seller on eBay name Green Gadget last year (or was it 2 yrs ago? Don't remember) andthrphoneis almost as new and no issues till now. The same seller is one of the Amazon refurb/renewed sellers.
Only some Dell "Renewed" computers,
now & then [to build an SDR radio system into]
PS Why settle for someone's trade-in…?
Buy a New, eg, XiaoMi POCO (or cheaper model)
We're enjoy'g an (older model) w/ 6.9" screen,
for which we paid ~$300 (shipped)
I use Xiaomi myself, as I believe flagships (not just Apple) are a con and there's no good reason to be spending north of $1k on a phone these days. This is for my son though who has a 6s and likes/is used to Apple. This deal on a 128GB XR looks good at close to $300 cheaper than buying a new one:

Obvs know the risks around warranty etc but this can be returned if not satisfied and gives a 6 month warranty.
I suggest you look at refurbs on eBay with the 12% off code.
It will come out to be much cheaper than Amazon at the moment. Most of them also have 30 day change of mind returns and I also suggest you go with one that has a 1 year warranty at least.
Any particular sellers, or just go by feedback ratings I guess?
@Brianqpr: I bought one XS Max 64gb from luvyourphone for $544 in Good Condition, it came with 95% battery health and had scratches you could only see in direct sunlight.
However, right after this, eBay had the 15% off sale which further reduced the price to $505 for this phone. I bought another XS Max 64GB from the same seller for $505 in Good Condition. This time however, the phone was in very bad condition with multiple dents, scratches that were visible at all times and the battery health was 90%. I intended to return the $544 one but now I might have to stick with it since it is in so much better condition than the $505 one.
So all I can say is that it is kind of a hit or miss with these sellers. That is why it is really important to make sure they have a good returns policy so you are not stuck with a crappy phone.
I would recommend you opt with at least the middle grade condition and do not go for the lowest tier.
Is that a general 12% code or only applicable to certain sellers?
@Brianqpr: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/619818
It is a general code that applies to a number of sellers.
10% for normal eBay members and 12% for eBay plus members.
I am not 100% sure but it is applicable for GreenGadgets products.
@thriftysach: Good stuff, greengadgets was one seller I was looking at.
@thriftysach: Went with iphone x from greengadgets, "pristine" condition, 256GB, 12 month warranty $458 after the discount code. That's pretty damn good if the phone is in the condition described.
@Brianqpr: I went from iphone 12 pro max 128gb (bought brand new) to a grade c XS Max, i was pretty impressed at how for less than 1/3 of the cost, I could pretty much do the same.
In hindsight, At $1800, the 12pro max was just a very stupid purchase on my behalf
Don't think Amazon sell refurbished iPhones. It's probably a third party so you'll need to look into them specifically.
