"mouthwatering colors" ? Are these shirts edible?!

  • Add shipping cost in title?

I get mine custom made in Sri Lanka for $45 :)

No physical address, I dunno if I can trust such business.

"The pudu journey began in a leafy suburb of Melbourne" so then you say "All products are shipped from our company owned production and warehousing facility in India" and so I don't think this is an Australian owned company anymore, in addition I believe that you could sell these shirts for $50 and still make 150% profit or even more.

Sorry I'm ozbargainer I must look into this stuff.

    • No need to be sorry. What you did was great.

I try to imagine rep's feeling

Yes, the markup on these must be very high, but then you could say that about any expensive brand name that's made in India, China, Sri Lanka. Also, hey someone has to pay the Pudu kids private school fees, two fancy cars and nice house (who, me bitter that I don't have those things? Never!).

Looks lesser quality, open weave linen (hence the hemp shirt look). Colour choice a bit '90's. Check tailorstore.com.au for custom fit, similarly priced, great quality shirts (some linen). Though their shirts are made in Sri Lanka via Sweden so same 3rd world/1st world equation applies (some bu**er in the 1st world making a mozza based on sweat labour and slick advertising).

Seems a poor choice between having those Indians making these shirts for a pittance in a sweatshop or ringing you at 6pm to tell say you have computer problems. Ain't no leafy suburb for them you can bet on that.

Frankly the description on the web site makes me want to burn every linen shirt I have - puke. From Delhi slum to upper middle class, hippy-esque beach wedding where everyone is such an individual they all must wear a linen shirt with blazer. Do you have to push the blazer sleeves up too? Or do Pudu sell them already tied up?

Be warned - I think you are only allowed the shirt if your can send a photo of your old school tie and your name is something like Sebastian or Julian.

However, if you like them, also note 40% off shorts (link on home page). I find linen binds on the skin.

I was in danger of being one of those poncy Melbournites, so I'm allowed to pick on them :-)

      • @wfdTamar if we all think regarding the slavery all around the world then we shouldn't wear any clothes at all like our ancients did in stone Era.
Yes it's a serious issue but that is something we low/middle level people cannot do much about, and even if we boycott those product, merchants will always find another way.

And so someone would say back to the topic.
I never bought a linen shirt, how's it? You said that it binds on the skin, can it be because you bought the wrong size?

        • Yes, short of making your own shirts there isn't much you can do (and then you have the same issue with fabric). I don't mind buying an Indian/Chinese shirt. I do mind the massive markup the middle men make just because they think they deserve an Audi etc.

Linen - it's a bit rougher fabric than cotton, longer fibres - I'm not sure. That could just be the type of linen weave in the shirts I have. I think it's more durable. Compared with cotton shirts of the exact same size (from tailorstore, so made to measure) they catch on the skin, or the hairs on the skin. So when you turn or lean down it catches and you have to unhitch it.

If you like the look of the Pudu shirts have a look at hemp ones too.

Interesting to Google 'linen vs cotton shirts'.

        • I never bought a linen shirt, how's it? You said that it binds on the skin, can it be because you bought the wrong size?

I have a varied collection of about ten regularly used linen and linen blend shirts (from Blazer, Gazman, Gant, Guess, etc.) and haven't experienced what wfdTamar describes in regards to catching hairs.

On hot days, they are the best - if it weren't for the relatively high cost of the material it'd be a wonder more people don't wear it. For those who know how much nicer breathability is going from polycotton to a pure cotton shirt, going from cotton to linen is like the same improvement again.

The main downsides I've observed is it's the hardest fabric to iron crisply, one of the most prone to creasing, and since linen shirts do tend to be a pretty open weave, the lighter coloured ones can be a bit see-through (e.g. dark nipple hair not well concealed behind a white linen shirt).

  • Prefer to get mine from M&S when they have an online sale for around £15 each plus shipping

  • Prefer to get mine from an opshop when they have a normal business day around $5 with free shipping

    • Care to give the web address?

      • Just go the corner of most main streets.

  • in stock?

    • -1

      Available…

      • "All products are shipped from our company owned production and warehousing facility in India" so do you mean the stock from India right? I thought "in stock" means in here in Australia!
        http://www.pudu.com.au/shipping-handling

        • I think it's fair enough to say 'in stock' if they ship from India. That's like Myer saying something is in stock - meaning in the warehouse interstate. 5 days is quicker than Myer can produce things.

  • Have a look/read of the Style Guide page for the complete preppy tragic how-to.

The chappie on the Vespa has to be a Tristan or Sebastian.

    What a cack.

Anyway what's going on here? I posted a thread with some excellent $99.95 Drizabone shirts going for $30-35 plus shipping and it got taken down for 'no bargain'.

Here are some so-so $87 shirts. Just because they're reduced doesn't make the worthy of OzBargain.

This is getting beyond a joke…

It is OZBARGAIN! Not 'Rep cuts 20% off expensive price so therefore equals bargain'…

It's almost as if companies are viewing as us a complete joke and just using us because they are guaranteed of a large audience! Cheap advertising for them etc.

If I wanted a cheap shirt, I'd go to a local store, tarmart etc. I wouldn't be willing to pay $87 for a shirt unseen.

    • Oops, viewing us as a…brain fade :P

  • this is not a bargain

  • Agreed, not a bargain at all

  • +2

More people need to start negging these crap deals.

  • Linen shirts get really wrinkled…but breath well.
