  • Can't tell if the buds are aussie stock?

    • +3

Have look at those. Seem like the buds pro is AU stock. Buds plus is OS stock .

      • +1

What are we looking for to determine if its AU or OS stock?

        • In the tiles of eBay's page. Would like to know any difference, AU vs OS?

      • they quoted 2 days delivery to NSW for the Buds plus, hopefully it is local stock.

      • On the ebay page for the buds pro it says model part number: SM-R190NZKAEUE

If you look at the aussie Samsung page or even Bing Lee's listing the part number is: SM-R190NZKAASA

So looks like this ebay listing is the European version, not AU.

      • Bud + is local stock and has been hipped already by Couriers please, not coming from overseas.
But yes you're right, it looks like EU version.
Does this impact the product in any way?

edit: just received buds + it is SM-R175NZKAMEA (Middle East?)

        • +1

I would say for buds the region would have no impact whatsoever.
For phones it's a bit different due to slight variations in region firmware and maybe slight differences in hardware but these buds really only do just one function haha.

          I wouldn't worry, just enjoy :)

  • Can someone share a screen of the galaxy Buds pro price discounted? I don't have ebay plus. Thanks

  • +3

The buds pro have been dropping in price very quickly since launch - wouldn't be surprised if they hit around $150 soon

  • Is newly launched Apple TV 2021 better than NVIDIA Shield TV Pro at the same price?

    • +1

They are totally different products though unless you are pimarily using them for just casting?
The Apple TV runs tvOS whilst the Shield runs Android. So it comes down to what you're using them for and with what device.

    • +1

Wouldn’t say one is better or worse, but they do have different strengths.

Like thousandsuns asked, do you cast or airplay? Cast go Shield, airplay go ATV.

Do you need bitstreaming audio? Go Shield.

Do you need HomeKit? Go ATV.

I have both, and prefer the interface of my ATV. That said, I haven’t updated the software much on the Shield (have SMPC which, I believe was discontinued years ago) so perhaps someone else might be able to chime in?

    • Well firstly the Apple TV 4K is cheaper (substantially so if you don’t have eBay plus to access this deal)

Unless you know why you need a Shield for a specific use case the Apple TV is miles ahead.

Performance wise it’s not even close, the Apple TV is almost 3x faster. Apps are generally made for Apple TV and launched there first.

Integration with the Apple ecosystem is extensive and far beyond anything Nvidia and Google offer in that space for users of the Android ecosystem.

      • I wish you were wrong. Apple processors are absolutely incredible.

      • the Shield also has A.I. upscaling, GeForce Now (and Shadow Play) gaming, custom emulation gaming, HDMI-CEC unified remote control (my fave feature as I only need to use 1 remote control both my Shield and 5.1 Surround Amp), and the Toblerone remote has a removable battery which the ATV doesn't do. So there goes Apples' e-waste marketing philosophy down the tubes.

        • +1

AI upscaling is little more than a digital sharpness filter which to the trained eye actually deteriorates image quality rather than improving it.

Apple TV also has an outstanding HDMI-CEC implementation with reliable control in complex systems such as yours.

The rechargeable battery in the Apple remote will outlive the device by decades considering it only needs to be charged a couple of times a year and likely is rated for at least 500 cycles. This is far better for the environment than a standard user utilising disposable alkaline batteries.

Support for Cloud Gaming services and emulators are some of the hyper niche use cases I outlined in my original comment when I said if you know why you need a Shield you should get a Shield.

    • Just be aware that an Xbox One S from ebay will most likely sh#@ on both of them

      • -1

The Xbox is a pretty average media player. It doesn’t support frame rate matching and a lot of the video apps lock themselves in HDR mode even when you’re playing SDR content.

It also uses a lot more electricity, is slower than a dedicated media box and doesn’t support HDMI-CEC.

Although it does have the advantage of being able to play UHD Blu-Rays and games.

  • Thanks, just got a X900H and was looking to get a Shield to pair with it.

    • +1

Can I ask why you'd need a Shield for the X9000H? I have an X9500H and haven't seen any need for a Shield, I guess the only reason you may want a Shield is for the Plex Media Server. But I've got that running on a NAS so no need for the Shield.

      • I've read that the AI upscaling is much better on the Shield than what the TV can do. Also heard that the software can be a bit buggy with the 9000H. Will see how it goes. I've got another TV I can use the Shield on if it's not required on the Sony.

        • Yeah apparently the X9500H has better upscaling than the Shield with the X1 Ultimate processor, though Shield is probably only slightly better than the X9000H but not sure it'd be that noticeable. Especially for ~$300 extra, I've also never had any lagging or slowing on my X9500H. See here for more info.

          • @BeerCrisp: Thanks. I'll compare the TV and Shield and see how it goes. I'm replacing an older 60" which is getting relocated, so if its not needed for the Sony I'll pair it up with that TV instead.

      • There a 2 main reason people don't use in built TV apps. The first and main reason is the TV apps are locked at 60fps and most media is 24 or 30 fps. This causes judder. The second reason is for simplicity. You have your media player, Blu Ray player and whatever else connected to your receiver and the receiver does all the audio decoding. No need to mess around with ARC or EARC and you just control everything from your receiver.

Did they just hike up the price ?

    • +1

      I'd say yes @ 27-Apr-21 12:31 $235.28

          • @hoxyz: Really? Still getting $122

  • +1

The galaxy buds pro have been hiked up to 320 before 15%. Even though the images says 199 with 15% off. ripoff
