  • Are these routers suitable to use permanently (24/7/365) as opposed to occasionally as travel routers?

    • I have run them 24/7 while housesitting in WISP repeater mode for months at a go.

    • Same here. Mine is 24/7/365. No issues. Have been running it since May 2020.

Too lazy to research this one, anyone know where they are built?

    • +7

      Yes

    • anyone know where they are built

      Product of Kenya.

  • Nice price! Paid more for mine :-(

  • Do these work with networks that make you got to a website to sign in?

    • +1
    • yep - very easily too.

  • Can these be configured to connect to a mobile hotspot and share the connection via Ethernet?

    • Yes, you can either WiFi repeat the mobile hotspot or share your mobile/hotspot/MiFi/dongle via USB tethering in most cases.

  • What is the main difference between this and the newer MT1300? Trying work out if I should bite or wait for a deal on that.

    • Have a look at the matrix down the bottom of the Amazon listing

Short story, the MT1300 is a much more "powerful" unit but you pay in terms of size and weight and price. Really does depend on your needs.

      • Thanks. Quite a nice upgrade.

I'm not opposed to paying a bit more for some future-proofing and size doesn't really matter for my use.

I'm in rush so I think I might hold out. (OzB alert created).

Shame about the limitations of usb2 with 4g

Thoroughly recommend this product. It works flawlessly for home use 24/7 as a Wifi Extender but more importantly, when you are traveling to those hotels which require logins to access the internet service. Pair that up with your Chromecast and you are pretty much hooked up as if you are at home with all your devices logging into the 'normal' router which in turn takes the internet from the Hotel.

  • i read somewhere these run hot…. and dont operate over 50 degrees celcios

    • I barely feel the heat from my one normally and to be honest I have not left it in a place that is over 50 deg C to test out the other theory but to be honest, I don't think there are many electronic things that do well under that sort of heat.
