Cool, better than the Sony deal from yesterday (free shipping, better panel, less glary coating, pair of glasses included).

    • -2

really the Samsung better than the Sony….I prefer the picture on the Sony but glasses would be nice. The Sony is smarter if thats important to you.

      • +4

Samsung pretty much has the best active 3D in the market right now.

        • -1

I'd go with sony if they included 3d glasses.
Samsung's built quality is just not good enough.
My 32" lcd's hdmi port doesn't even work properly after 2 months.

Best pictures? Samsung? I'd like something that'll last a bit longer instead

      • +2

In every side-by-side comparison I've seen between a Samsung and any other brand, the Samsung looked better.
That goes for Plasma and LCD.

    • +2
      • Free 3D glasses are not mentioned online
      • Wifi dongle $56.40 (Static Ice)
      • 3D glasses Samsung SSG-3100GB $45 (Static Ice)
      • Why can't I get a price reduction if I pick up in store instead of using free shipping?

Might check out CostCo instead. Pass

  • Retracted… sorry

  • If Samsung continues with this BS clerr motion rate instead of the actual refresh rate i might shoot them in the head.

So many cheap SAMSUNG deals recently.

Have people stopped to see why Samsung are so cheap?

They have a world wide problem of poor quality capacitors in many of their TVs that cause the TVs to fail just outside of their warranty period. Samsung Australia for the most part have not come to the party when this happens.

Google Samsung and capacitor issue or read here…

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1637947#r…

    STAY AWAY FROM CHEAP SAMSUNG!

    • -1

I have to agree with that completely. My 26" samsung crapped it TX board after a week after the 1 year warranty expired. And Samsung being a sham said they could not help me with anything at all, and were very VERY rude about it. Their customer service is like calling up a random who could not care less from the yellow pages and asking him to search the internet for the manual, then he'll read from that manual. As they say, don't let Samsung SCAMYOU!!!

    • +2

@Serpeant Your Samsung hate is getting boring. Why dont you just ignore the Samsung television uploads and save us all from your constant whinging?

      • -1

he is warning us not to purchase

      • -3

He isn't a hater you idiot. He had a Samsung TV before and it die just after warranty due to … then he tells other how bad their TV is. Just to warn them.

    • +1

Feel free to express your opinions, but it isn't exactly right to neg a deal based on a brand when it is one as established as Samsung.

You even say yourself "in many of their TVs" - So does this poor capacitor issue affect this particular TV or not?

      • +1

imagine the negs on a dick smith brand tv…

    • +4

lots of samsung deals because new models soon

    • You do realise that you are entitled to invoke your statutory warranty in cases like this, don't you?

  • +3

I am a bit off Samsung at the moment. Had my laptop screen break when I opened it and very lightly had my thumb on the top right corner, it broke and now up for $300 replacement. that happened 2 months out of warranty.

And also just got a samsung fridge and it failed after 2 weeks.

    • -4

Seems to me many people are having problems with Samung products.

      • +6

Yeap sure do have problem with samsung! Start up capacitor issue, TV just sits there and keeps clicking.

*If this happens to you, turn tv off at wall and get start-up capacitors replaced.
*If you leave it clicking, blows the main board

        • +1

By clicking do you mean the LED light on the TV that flashes when a remote control signal is received keeps on flashing? And you can't do anything with the remote or on TV controls?
We've had the main board replaced 3 times during the warranty period to try and fix this but it still happens now and then. This is for a plasma Samsung btw.

        • Don't worry, just read the article from The Buzz Media linked below - it's a different issue =S

      • +3

Seems to me only 6 people on ozbargain are having problems with samsung products

You only ever hear the whingers

its a law of probability that there are going to be some duds, and somebodys gunna end up with them

      • +3

My Samsung TV is still going strong after 5 years,
I believe Serpeant is confused with the Sa-Mung chinese brand which is clearly inferior.
Great Deal OP, can't believe anyone would neg this!

  • Had a Samsung 46" LED 3D job for 2 years now (when 3D first came out), still going strong with no issues. Bought a Samsung 1300RPM washer that is awesome as well, so it's not all bad news. Looking a 2nd TV for bedroom, avoiding Samsung only because I want a wider variety of internet TV than Bigpond and ABC (hence Sony or LG which have channel 7 as well)

  • +1

The Samsung TV in my household has been going strong for 3 years, the Samsung laptop however broke in a year…

  • +10

Manufacturing issues are usually limited to a batch, and shouldn't warrant a neg to the deal. The voting system isn't on YOUR EXPERIENCE with the product, it is just to say whether the price is actually a bargain price compared to the RRP or standard retailers. As the 2 above me state, they are happy with their samsung product.

  • I'm running a Samsung 40" M81 series LCD TV which is just over 4 years old and has put in almost 13,000 hours and is still running strong. I've seen a fair few people who have had problems with Samsung, but this TV gets used as my computer monitor and has averaged over 7 hours use each day since I first got it.

Not sure if I just got lucky with my screen or not. But I wouldn't mind replacing this with another Samsung panel when it dies or I can get a bigger screen for fairly cheap.

  • ………….This is definitely a good deal, I bougt my UA40C5000 a year ago for $1200 and no problem. Samsung laptops might not be reliable but their display panels are premium class. I also have a 22" Samsung monitor 226BW which I have been using for 5 years.

    • Yeah I have a samsung monitor which has been fine, running for about 4 years now. I was absolutely disgusted when the laptop screen broke though. Samsung didn't care and directed me to an indian repair centre who wanted to charge over $300 for the screen. Can buy it from hong kong for $150 and do it myself but its just irritating. laptop cost $1200.

  • Does this come with a 3D blu-ray player ?

    • nup, extras is 1 pair of 3d glasses

  • +1

Nope, but you get a pair of 3D glasses.

  • +1

No problems here with my Samsung Plasma TV.

  • TBH, The older Samsung TVs are more durable then the new ones. Probably because cheaper capcitors and components.
My 3 year old Samsung 32" still running strong, bought back in 09

    • THat's not quite 3 years.

The capacitor issue normally shows up AFTER the 3 year mark, when you are out of warranty.

  • Good price, nice one.

  • Hi, guys i need about of advice, i bought this tv from jb-hi-fi about 25 days ago, for $888. Do you reckon the would refund me the price difference? Thanks

    • +1

No. Why should they give you a refund of the price difference? AFAIK a store needs to have a specific X day price guarantee to even entertain the thought of giving past customers partial refunds. JB Hifi doesn't have that.

    • No

    • +2

      Doubtful.

If it was within a week… maybe. 25 days? not likely.

    • -1

If you pay using gold or plat credit card usually they have 6 month price drop insurance for free. Never use it but they say if you buy product and the store you buy drop the price in 6 month you get the difference

  • +6

$773.70 if you go through this link and then search on product code. shhh

    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/rd.ashx?iSAMS=A&afid=18&T=217

    • Edit:
I take that back.. it does work

    • Sweet man, wasn't aware of this :)

Only really good if you can only buy online though, haggling 30 bucks off an $800 tv I can't imagine to be hard instore.

  • what's the difference between good experience and bad experience with product?

Answer - little contact with company and constant problems.

Why do people here crap on those that share bad experiences? Denying reality is pathetic - its a different brand - crap.

http://www.thebuzzmedia.com/samsung-tv-capacitor-clicking-is… - read the posts from those allegedly involved in class action suits. All 476 fiction?

I doubt it - anyway what is the warranty on this set - 1 year or 3 years. I thought Samsung only offered 12 months on TV's since 2010?

    this is probably why…

    • +3

      Welcome to the internet.

    • +2

If you believe everything on the internet you gotta have rocks in your head. Take pro's and cons of a product as indications only.

You know how successful con men work? Very simple. "He was such a nice guy and believable"

If they aren't believable then they are NOT successful con men…

      • LOL, I can't believe some chump negged you for espousing a little commonsense Pete…hang on, it's OzB, yeah I can! :)

    • +1

haven't seen whirlpool, have you? Full of whingers

      • +2

It's easy to dismiss Whirlpool as a forum for whingers when you don't have a grievance, but I find Whirlpool a valuable forum for discovering which products or companies may have problems and are best avoided.

The alternative is to sit in silence and not share negative opinions about companies. It's exactly what the companies would want.

        • Then use the appropriate channels for it, put it up on review websites, where it will be seen by quite a few people. Product reviews on whirlpool I don't mind TBH but the shitloads of people who whinge how they got charged $1000 for using Data on roaming abroad, just makes me grind my gears (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ ┻━┻

Learn how to use your phone or you don't deserve it.

        • Both perspectives are correct here, Ozpete nailed it…reminds me of a wise old saying: 'believe none of what you hear & half of what you read!' ;)

That said, there sure are some doozies on Whingepool! :p

        • There are appropriate forums for discussing problems, however Whirlpool does tend to be a technological 'catch all' site for complaints.

It's interesting that you brought up the example of whinging about being charged $1k for international data roaming. Do you consider charging $7 per megabyte (Telstra) to be fair? Neither phone nor carrier gives any warning this is happening. On many older phones it's not even possible to switch off international data roaming. My previous Nokia clocked up hundreds of hours of data connections while in Europe in 2009, all of which I was completely oblivious to. Fortunately the phone downloaded very little data and I was only charged a few dollars.

        • @cluster

It's not fair that they charge that much, complain to the authorities on this, whirlpool ain't gonna solve you problems. When going abroad, I usually just turn data off for good/use a prepaid sim or get a local sim, not having a go at you but it isn't too hard to research this before going on holidays.

It is unfortunate for anyone who has faced/es this problem, but even if people actually read these threads on whirlpool and tried to avoid it in the future then whingepool would be a better place( yes just realised what I said is a paradox, but you get my point)

  • Anyone able to get it cheaper in-store in a jb hifi in Sydney. Haggling isn't something I enjoy but this is a good deal so far for this TV. Even better if I could get $50 - 100 off this TV.

    • -1

If someone can bargain $100 off it, I would get one and use my $80 of stocklands vouchers toward it as well

  • the photo looks more like the UA40D6600 (sliimer screen etc) than the UA40D6000 but maybe i am getting confused

  • Dam these are getting cheap, also I've had my Samsung lcd for over 6 years no problems and I use it alot.

  • Just a little info for anyone that wants to listen, both sony and samsung use the same manufacturing plant for the screens. Thus one could assume same quality among tv's right? I will leave that one up to you.

    • Until very recently Sony used Samsung LCD panels. The joint venture was dissolved a few weeks ago. While the LCD may be identical between the two brands there's no guarantee the power supply is as well. Perhaps someone who has serviced both brands can add more details.

  • What price was this originally rrp price is $1299 on Samsung website. What is the real bargain here.

    • Saving 38% off RRP isn't a bargain?

I guess if the TV was less than $10 it'd be considered an Ozbargain …

    • i went to myer, the "lowest price" they could go, including price match was $900.

  • jeez funnier and funnier - the mythical super Sony build rears its wet liitle head again - wet from having the fires put out from using defective/cheap components. Sneers about whingers and people that don't listen properly - reality is warranty was reduced for a reason - they ain't built to last no more.
    Fact.

People want to pay for products from companies that are not built to last, and are not produced to the same quality standard as before that's fine - when others seek to to convince them that its safe to do so using fiction and personal attacks it ain't. A bargain ain't a bargain if it does not perform as the buyer was led to believe. This Tv is reasonably cheap -that's it. Its not a great bargain, and unless the warranty has changed back it ain't designed to last. What is the manufacturer warranty again?

  • I got the 32" Series 6 from JB not too long ago. Very good TV's, no problems as of yet.

  • Its a very nice tv, bought one. Looks great.

    Any questions let me know

  • All that complain about build quality , bang and olufsen do alotv of premium tv and supposedly good build

    • You could probably buy 8+ Samsung's for the price of one B&O.

      • it won't look the same, thats like saying you could buy 4 toyota yaris' for the cost of one Mercedes SLK 200

  • What 3D glasses are people getting to go with the TV?

@spawnpoint If you crash one yaris' at least you have 3 left.
If the TV stuffs up after a few years at least you never paid full price or 2000+

    • And yet I doubt anyone who was given the explicit choice of coding between the two would go for the yaris

    • They comes with one pair

      Model: SSg-3100GB
      Model code: BN96-18234a

      • I had to order my TV online since the closest store is a 2hr drive.
The 46" one on JB says 3D glasses and the 40" one doesn't mention it.
Since the pair you listed aren't rechargeable looks like i will have to find
a decent priced pair that are.

  • Bought this at JB yesterday for 773 and 5 year warranty 119. Love it
