The 2018 vintage has already received 96pts from Andrew Caillard: Deep crimson. Intense blackberry roasted chestnut paneforte aromas with dark chocolate notes. Richly flavoured and supple with fresh dense blackberry mulberry fruits, fine plentiful chalky tannins, lovely mid-palate volume and underlying roasted chestnut oak/ paneforte/ fig complexity. Finishes chocolatey firm. A classic Barossa Shiraz with rich fruit, oak and acidity neatly balanced. 14.5% alc Drink now – 2035.
Current rating of 4.0 for the 2018 vintage in Vivino (broadly in line with prior vintages).
‘2018 is an exceptional representation of this wine showing depth and power with restraint. This wine can be enjoyed young but will also cover many decades. The 2018 Filsell exemplifies what the Barossa Valley does so well’, Craig Stansborough, Chief Winemaker.
Worth mentioning that this is under cork rather than screwcap, presumably meant for China export
