Had my eye on a house, only problem is, it's backyard is next to the soccer field of a private high school, and the house entrance is on the street of the same high school, like 8 houses away.
So my worries are:
1. Noise during daytime from the soccer field
2. Traffic jam in the morning and afternoon

Does anyone has any experience on living next high schools?
No noise besides the bell for recess, lunch, day end and maybe assembly if you're unlucky.
The worst would be the traffic during drop off and pick up. I live about 1.5 blocks away and it's a nightmare especially if there's traffic lights near the school as well.
Given its a private school I'm guessing there may be ample space but also more likelihood of car drop offs

If it is a popular school you can build a granny flat and rent it out for people who want to get into that catchment area for their kids…
Private school
Traffic will be the only issue I think will impact you. Whether it will be a hassle, depends on your schedule. If I am going to work I leave much earlier and come home later than school traffic. You might want to check on Saturday’s as many private schools play Saturday sports.
I’d take a private high school as a neighbour over a random person, at least you can deal with them, get issues sorted etc. because they want to keep on the good side of the neighbours.
The only problem I see is people parking infront of your driveway and traffic Jams which is bad and no one would want to let you out of ur driveway.
Buy a Hummer and an aggressive Bumper Sticker :+)
Before you buy make sure you visit a few times during school drop off and pickup times to check traffic. If it’s anything like our local, it will be complete chaos. At least it’s only 5 days a week and school holidays will be quiet too.
Otherwise, expect the odd soccer ball in the backyard, followed by a kid to collect it, or be prepared to chuck them back quickly.
Properties near schools usually attract a premium so this is something to consider.
And no backyard neighbours!
I used to live near a school for a year and enjoyed weekly false fire alarms during mornings, afternoons, evenings and night time.

We live at the back of a Catholic school. It's actually worked out quite well. We enjoy not having a back neighbour. They use classical music as the class bell so it's not that disruptive.
Only drawback is school pick ups block the street up but it only lasts like 30 minutes and rarely at the same time we are driving

You won't have any issue with this.

The house is in lower elevation so you might not even hear anything.

The college has ~1000 students so that road is jam-packed with stressed frenzy parents during school pickup/drop off and L platters.
Imagine having to hear the class bell every day. And not being able to collect your morning paper in your underwear. There’s something about living on a street no one commutes on except the people who live on it that money can’t buy.

Most likely they'll answer vaguely and tell you that other buyers are queueing because it was so close to the school.
Houses 221- 227 do not have a soccer field directly behind them… it looks more like some storage tanks (houses 225 - 227).. they could be sewage holding tanks that get pumped out regularly? Enjoy the smells I guess. Houses 213 - 223 have some shady/ perhaps out of bounds areas very well suited to drugs deals etc…. maybe you will find a $38/ 1g packet there every now and again?
So OP could do some rooftop surveillance to find the stash, wait for the re-up then call out, "five oh, five oh" and grab themselves a g-pack?

Depending on location… very true my friend. There is a major college just 20 min drive from me that has its own sewage tanks that get pumped out weekly. I have been there so I know.
And they are above ground?
@MS Paint: Partly above ground. There are around 3 tanks with different chambers and the sewage gets partly treated before it gets pumped out. I was there on a project. Saw it first hand how it operates.
@Logical: Thankyou. I'm almost certain tanks in OPs image are not sewage as they are above ground.
It's called a septic system. I have one at home at the treated water keeps my garden lovely and green.
I can imagine chilling in your front yard then being accused of "something"
My parents live directly behind the oval of one, and on the front side is the "back way" for another school where parents would drop and pick up their kids. Pretty noisy especially on sports days, and if you come home during school pick up time where people will just park all over the kerb. If you have kids, super convenient. But otherwise its pretty bearable I guess.
Lived with a school sports ground backing onto our backyard. As someone else said the school bells could be annoying. Kids were noisy when playing sports but that was not all day. Some sports on saturdays could be noisy but that was mainly mornings. We have lived next door to houses with screaming yelling kids and fighting parents that were worse. I would buy again in the same circumstances. Pickup and drop off could be a pain but there are lots of school holidays and teachers only days.
I used to live in apartment literally right next to a private school. Noise wasn't an issue but traffic especially during pick ups and drop offs can be annoying but you'd be out of the house for work before it bothers you.
I love the M-F 9-5 workers who seem to forget about this thing called shiftwork

Traffic and parking issues during regular school pick-up/drop-off.
Then sports whistles, bells, announcements and match screams and yelling can be annoying.
All these aren't limited to school days as schools sometimes lease their facilities when not in use so impact times can expand to after school and on weekends.
I know people who made the mistake of buying across the road from Netball courts. The noise!! I live near a popular pub and it's relatively quiet compared to that. I can imagine a high school being worse.
If you don't plan on being there during school hours or on the weekend (for school sports etc) then it might be ok. Otherwise? Steer clear.
The drop off pick up traffic will be the biggest issue.
There are a few schools in my area, we aren't in Slumsville but not exactly a good area either.
The number of rude parents that will stop in the middle of the road and let Little Johnny run across the road and get in is quite remarkable.
All it takes is for 1 to do it and the rest follow, making it a 3 - 5 minute trip in those 400 metres.
They will cause traffic even on the other side of the road as they try to execute a U-turn.
We live at the back of a school and I could hear the noise and so does the people online meeting with me.
The soccer field sometimes used for local matches and we could hear the players screaming and the whistles too.
Sometimes they have festivals like in Christmas and have bands playing.
It's not quiet for sure.
At least you'll have hot high schoolers walking pass your house! And easier to get to school - less walking distance.

But my parents live opposite a primary school, and unless you really listen, you can barely hear it. The only problem is the stupid parents lose all road common sense when it comes to drop off/pick up
