    Playbar is also a reasonable price too @ TTG - $694 - https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/sonos-playbar-pbar1au1blk

If you can actually find stock.

      • Agreed, if you can find the stock. My local TTG had stock, checked again 5 or 10 minutes later and it's no longer available.

    • I thought playbase was newer and slightly better than playbar

      • I think the playable is discontinued. It's not on their website anymore. Reviewers did say it was better than the playbar because of its shape and size

    • both of these have been hella discontinued for years so be wary of lifespan (and both have been superceded anyway)

  • Beep bop boop

I need an Arc deal soon to complement my CX soon. Don't know how much longer i can hold out. Anyone was able to get a good negotiated deal recently?

    • +2

15% off via UniDays or you might be lucky enough to get a 30% off credit upgrade via Sonos if you've got an eligible product.

      • Can teachers access unidays or only students?

      • That's awesome thanks brings it down to $1189~. I might drop down to TGG to see if they can better the price and then use discounted gift cards to sweeten it further.

        • +1

Good idea, I was planning to do the same but through HN (since I've got access to Macquarie Marketplace which gets me 5% discounted HN giftcards)

        • +1

Let me know how you go at the TGG and I'll update you on HN :)

          • +3

@karitas: I have just bought for $1,189.15 through TGGs who price matched the 15% unidays code discount. Receipt https://ibb.co/XZzwNrd

Paid with 5% discounted gift cards came to $1,129.69

            • +1

@Lucille Bluth: Thanks for the receipt mate

            • +1

@Lucille Bluth: I didn't have any luck with HN. They were only prepared to discount by $150 (to $1245). I ended up going to TGG, who easily matched the $1189.15. And paid with 3% discounted gift cards.

Also picked up the Sony 65" X9000H for $1900 from TGG, before gift cards.

              • @karitas: Great. Yesterday I picked up 2 of these from Ikea which is compatible with the Arc in the "as is" clearance section they had a few for $129 in Richmond VIC. You might wanna grab some to complement your system.

Now to decide whether or not get the sub, for now I am quite happy with the setup and compliments quite good with my newly bought LG CX from this deal

Feel a lot lighter this month $$$

I've been on the fence about buying a Sonos Arc for a few months now to go with my 2020 Samsung Q80T and Pair of Sonos Ones but have been reluctant to do so because of reports on both Sonos and Samsung communities about sound dropouts (every 15 secs in some cases) between TV and Arc when using the HDMI Arc.
Looking for feedback from any Ozbargainers that have a similar setup (i.e. Samsung tv with HDMI ARC to a Sonos ARC) and whether they are experiencing any of the issues in the link below.
Seems to being going on since release over a year ago, following the thread below there are lots of reports of software patches throughout the past year (for both Sonos and Samsung) to fix the issue followed by reports from users of persistent issues post update.

Hoping this it isolated to US versions, what is the Ozbargain experience?

    • Hey mate,

I’ve got the exact same set up except also have a Sonos sub hooked up. I haven’t had any issues with sound dropping out, and it’s been a terrific experience overall. I’d 100% recommend getting the Sonos arc

      • Excellent, I assume you have tested some Dolby Atmos content and no issues?
Also, any kind Ozbargainers willing to PM a UniDays code?

    • This. I returned an LG SN11RG because the rear speakers kept dropping out - and when I moved my mesh router away to reduce interference, the smart features stopped working because of no wifi! I read reports on this in forums but chose to believe the positive ones-and it came back to bite me. I have read this experience not only about the Arc but the Samsung too.

The reality is a lot of folks will have no problems (otherwise we’d see a recall!) but for a few, it will be insurmountable. I suspect it is worse with dense apartment blocks vs suburban homes.

The huge problem is that these brands’ wireless devices all use your home network 2.4ghz unless using wired Sonosnet. They claim to use their own network but the instructions all warn you about your home network interfering - so it’s ultimately pot luck.

Personally I’m staying away till someone develops their own true independent mesh like Zigbee, or I will just look to a wired system and find a way to hide the cabling. If you want to give it a shot Just be sure to buy it off a store with a fair return policy and that isn’t too far for you to luge a massive subwoofer and a bunch of speakers like I now have twice !

    • I've also got this exact setup (2020 Samsung Q80T 75" + Sonos Arc + Sub) and can confirm no drop-outs or issues. I love it. I researched the absolute heck out of it, because whilst I wanted to keep adding on to my Sonos system, I thought that perhaps the similarly priced Samsung 9.1 set up might be better. Have since read many issues with rear speakers turning off on those, so very glad with my decision to go the Arc.

  • Any way to see stock past one or two stores? I checked a bunch of Sydney suburbs but nothing came up.

  • +1

Any good deals on the Sub?

  • How loud does this get?

  • my local store has this on clearance for $399, decided to get it.

not sure why the sub is on clearance for 499, its just a sub.

    • What store? They also had the sub for $499? Presumably it’s the 2nd gen, but that’s a steal.

      • is the sub worth it? why its more expensive than main speakers? this playbase is good, i thought homepod is already good for music, then i tried this one.

        • Yes, it’s worth it. Which store?

          • @aja12: I just went to TGGs there is no sub on their PDA coming up other than gen 3 for $800+ not sure why the question of which store is not being answered, would save a lot of time

            • +1

@Lucille Bluth: Yep, I was able to find one store with me with stock of the Playbase and gen 2 Sub (white only - gen 2 $844) - prices were the same as advertised. Not sure why they aren’t answering the question - either it’s not true, or they’re deciding on whether to buy up and flip for a profit?

    • Which store?

  • Currently have a Beam, love it but more bass would be welcome. I have a Westpac cashback deal of $80 off $500 spend. Does that make this a very worthy upgrade?

Got the Beam for around $360 after cashbacks and it's only 6 months old, can probably still sell for around 400 I'd be guessing. So spending around $120 to change over to this. I'll do some more research, could be a good idea. Don't love the white but if it sounds good, it'll do!
