½ Price Gigabyte B550-X-V2 ATX Motherboard

    What's wrong with it?

    • +5

Retailers are being forced to buy a bunch of stock they can't sell to get access to GPUs.

should I buy this and use this as a basis for the rest of my build and slowly collect?

    or just buy a pre-built?

    • +6

based on current crypto trend, i bet it will be a very slow pc part collecting process ;(

      • ahh fair enough. it looks like a real hassle so i might just make do with my current for now.

      • Yup, Ethereum is moving in the completely wrong direction :*(

        • Buy some Ether and i'm sure you'll disagree

Go pre-built. Sell off parts if you dont need them.

      • that's exactly it! I have a few things in my current system that I don't need to buy again (SSD etc). But selling off parts from the pre-built system is a great idea.

        • Graphics card would be the biggest ticket item to sell if you have a good one already

    • +1

Would suggest getting a pre-built since the price of graphics card is crazy.

This board has the worst VRM out of any b550 mobo in it's price bracket, so there's really no reason to purchase it when just about whatever you're getting in a prebuilt will likely be better.

Strangely, it has a type-C front USB port, which most Gigabyte b550 boards, including the Aorus Master, are missing. Yes, that is a $300 USD MSRP mobo lol.

      • I think this is a different board, it is X-V2 not X as in the video. Not sure if they have different VRM though

        • +2

Same VRAM, the v2 added in the USB type-c.

      • ummm okay put this into context - only if you plan to overclock, those temps are not achieved from stock where it gets to 53 degrees at a 1 hour stress test (which is fine).

  • Nice one - cheap little upgrade from my b450. Thanks!

  • Can I put 2 M.2 to this board? I knew ASRock can't

    • Yeah you can on this one

  • Confirmed - Stock still available at the current pricing $109.
