please, just, don't but any drone less than $200 (2nd hand including), not even if "im a noob and just wanna try if drones are for me", because for under $200, what you try isn't drone, but cheap plastic toy pretend to be drone.

that's my experience of having 3 cheap drones before buying a proper 2nd hand dji phantom 3 for $260.

This is an exception to the rule. (for indoor use anyway - and some outdoor use if it is absolutely still)

This thing is incredible for the $$$

    • They can be handy to learn line of site flying. Personally, I think far too few multi-rotor owners are able to fly line of site, and probably should learn to on something like this before flying something better. CASA wants us to keep line-of-site with our 'drones', but what's the point when most flyers aren't capable of piloting them like that.

    • i agree, i got bored pretty quickly with the tello, its ok to have in the back of the car or take a few pics when out with the family.
i suppose it is pretty old nowadays too

    • These are quality cheap drones for entry level enthusiasts or those wanting to have something decent but not having to worry about wrecking it because it’s only ~$100.

Dunno about refurbished but it should be fine.

I have been flying my $10 Furibee around the house fairly well. It took quite a bit for practice. If you really want to learn line of sight flying then get something cheaper that doesn't have a camera and is not too easy to fly.

  • I wonder if one could connect a Xbox controller (via Bluetooth) to the Tello mobile app and fly using that? Flying on touch screen can be a very shitty experience because you can't get the feel of the stick, i.e. how far you've pushed without looking down too frequently.

  • If anyone is after spare batteries for the Tello, Kogan have them on sale currently at $15 each almost half what it costs everywhere else.
