  • Damn ! Just bought one yesterday from Computer Alliance.. Paid $9 more than this deal. Can I cancel that eBay order?

    • I'd say message them. They're usually pretty chill when asking for a refund on price difference.

      • Sure - Thanks

The 1TB Evo 860 was a similar price after cashback which would be the better choice. Might not have any stock though

    • may i ask why the 860 be a better choice than the 870

      • +5

EVO has the better quality TLC rather than QVO's QLC. In short better speeds and endurance for the drive

        • Thanks for the information FireRunner. I assumed the 870 would be better because of it's higher number. Sneaky version numbering!

        • i meant like say between the 860 evo and 870 evo is there a difference i thought the 870 was meant to have a very slight improvment in performance

          • +5

@BargainWizard: 870 EVO is better than 860 EVO because it's a newer version with a slight performance improvement.

But QVO is QLC, so even though it's "newer," it is still more budget oriented compared to the EVO.

It's like comparing an i7-6700k with an i5-7600k.

    • Do you have a link? I need a need harddrive.

i got 2 1tb evo recently for around $100 1 was around 6 weeks ago from computer alliance $99 using coupon and after cashback 1 was around 3 weeks ago from futu for $112 using coupon and after cashback they have both now increased the regular prices computer allinace from $149 to $169 and futu from $160 to a whopping $209

      • So is inflation happening?

    • +2

Maybe not: Any purchases made with the use of Coupon / Voucher Codes are not eligible for Cashback (unless otherwise stated)

      • i bought 3 samsung ssds recently 2 1tb 860s evos and a 2tb 870 evo 1 got from from computer alliance and 2 from futu all with coupons and got cashback approved and so far i got payed out on one of them they dont show coupon discounts on the reciept only the full price

        • You're referring to the Samsung SSD cashback promo. Whereas the others are taking about Shopback.

  • Has anyone got cash back from Samsung yet?

i got payed out $32 a couple of days ago for a 1tb 860 evo i bought around 6 weeks ago

      • +1

        ditto

      • 6 weeks, Samsung is slow. I bought mine 4 week ago, so another 2 weeks wait.

        • 6 weeks is quick - my last three took 3 months !!

Still waiting on my cashback from the 4tb deal :(

  • Whats the difference between EVO and QVO?

    • +2
    • +2

      See the link from @shonky

My understanding: if you just want bulk storage for relatively fast reads with infrequent writes (e.g. a drive for steam/origin/etc) then the QVO drives are ok. For anything you'll be doing more writes (e.g. video editing) then you want a EVO or a PRO drive for both durability and speed.

I've been using a Crucial P1 (QLC) drive for almost 2 years for the frequent-read/seldom-write use case and its been fine.

Original deal does not need eBay Plus. Is Plus really needed?

    • +1

You're right, I didn't notice that. Thanks for pointing it out, updated the title.

  • Nice deal thanks 👌

  • Futu are not listed on the Samsung SSD cashback website - do they invoice under a different name that is listed?

    • +4

They fall under 'K.S. COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY' on their invoices.

  • Excuse my stupid question : what is this 2.5" for ?

    • google is your frienemy

The most obvious difference between 3.5 vs 2.5 HDD is the hard drive size. The 2.5 inch HDD is normally around 3 inches wide, whereas the 3.5 inch HDD is around 4 inches wide in diameter. On the whole, the 2.5 inch HDDs are smaller in length, width and height than the 3.5-inch HDDs

      • In other words, 2.5" goes in laptop and 3.5" does not ;)

      • Thanks, mate!

  • thanks OP got 1tb one.

  • Can anyone recommend free clone software to clone my os disk from current rubbish allied ssd to this? thanks!
