I like to support the smaller guys but it's hard to justify when Optus offer a $20/10GB international roaming travel pack that uses all 3 networks in NZ for cheaper.

You can register a sim for $11 ($1 sim cost, $10 recharge cost) so for a total of $31 you get 10gb of data. If you already use Optus it'll only cost you $20.

Yes it's only valid for 14 days so if you plan on staying longer than that you'll need to buy 2 of the roaming travel packs.

  That Optus deal is clearly good value (esp for Prepaid), but very odd there are no standard call minutes included? Seems a missed opportunity - I want to be able to make and receive calls within NZ and back to Aus when roaming in NZ - I don't understand why Optus doesn't have an option to pay 30-40 bucks for the two weeks to get calls as well.

The first time I was in NZ I bought a travel SIM from a place at the airport and was unable to SMS pictures back to Australia (to send to people not using whatsapp/signal/etc). Do these SIMs include international MMS?

Also it says "Unlimited call & texts to standard Aussie numbers" - as it says texts, assume that means unlimited calls to Australian mobile numbers?

For the unlimited plan - does it reduce to 1mbps after exactly 40gb? As that's not actually unlimited, and therefore shouldn't be advertised as such…
