  • Same deal on e320? :)

edit: Can you provide bit more info on this deal? Seems you can buy the laptop from anywhere and get the cashback?

    • Yup you can. Buy from anywhere and get a cash-back. If you grab it from the lenovo site you will just get the PowerBuy cash-back.

      • not the lenovo money tree cashback?

  • -1

The $349 G570 from MSY would kill this one.

    • +1

Can you give me the link? I cannot find this deal on MSY website.

    • +2

The Lenovo G570 is only an Intel B950 (aka, a shit CPU). The i3-2310M is vastly superior.

      • True, but it's $50-100 more.

        • Then in what way would the G570 "kill" the E520?

        • In the benchmark/$ rate way. Also the Lenovo G570 has a 500G hd vs 320G for this one but 2G less RAM.

        • In the "costs 30% less which could make it affordable or more desirable for some people who know they don't need any more computing power than what it takes to browse OzBargain and maybe watch the odd cat video on YouTube because they aren't really into Modern Combat Zombie Battle City of War 3 and can get their kicks by spending a few hours playing Solitaire instead" kind of way.

        • So, not so much kill as it might be about the same or narrowly beat this when a proportional price to performance ratio is taken into account, especially if you hand pick benchmarks that don't reflect CPU performance.

          Oh yeah. A real killer.

For the record, I agree that this deal isn't impressive. Hence the lack of upvote. But the MSY deal doesn't kill this one. It's a reasonable competitor.

        • thinkpad edge build is superior to G570 too

      • shit cpu? yeah its all relative though.
im still kicking along on an 939 opteron 170 (2 x 2ghz) desktop. (yeah i need an upgrade)
        the B950 apparently beats it.

        http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Dual+Core+AMD…

the opteron 170 is fine for most apps.
ergo the b950 is also fine for most apps.

    • Doesn't have Intel Core i3.

    • It would only kill this one if it was used as a superior chopping board!

    • how do i3's compare to old Core2Duos?

  • Could you use this with the lenovo deal posted by scotty? If so this could be really good.

    link: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/61551

    • That deal is 10% for $599 or more. This is below that.

      • have a look at the link.

it appears that this deal is giving a cashback on selected lenovo models purchased anywhere, so they could be used in conjunction with each other.

        • Ahh sorry im confused. Can you some up the steps I would need to do?

          Thanks in advance.

        • +2

all good, i'm a bit confused myself.

          I gather that you:

          1. Register on the powerbuy website

          2. buy a selected lenovo from anyone

          3. claim cashback from lenovo money tree

          4. claim cashback from these guys.

        • Thanks mate. So what's the best value laptop to get and from where?

        • This is the cheapest I found with much better specs. http://www.ao3.com.au/product.asp?ManufPartNo=114353M

          I3-2310M/4G/500G/DVDRW/INT/BT/CAM/N/CR/6C/W7HP64

          $591 delivered before cashback

          Website looks kind of tacky.

Edit: This is eligible to power bug cash back not the lenovo cash back.

    • The main one would be claiming from Lenovo Money Tree, which is only available from ThinkPads bought from retail stores. Lenovo online store uses different model. However I think you might still be able to claim something back from PowerBuy.

      • I don't think you can claim anything back from PowerBuy if you buy from Lenovo directly. The only model I can find from Lenovo's online store is 1143CTO which is not a qualifying product number for either PowerBuy or Lenovo Money Tree.

  • Business only deal?

    • If you ask for a quote from e-volve you can get it as a non-business owner and you can still register with PowerBuy.

      • I'm starting to get confused. I thought you can buy it from anywhere in Australia? Why do we need e-volve?

        • You can, it's just the easiest way to get it for the $423 price.

  • So how much can we claim cash back from Lenovo money tree and Powerbuy?

    • money tree : $ 100 visa cash card
      Powerbuy : $ 100 or even $120 (which I received!)

  • bought this laptop for $550 directly from Lenovo in Feb last year.
