Cheap Coffee Machine Using Nespresso Pods $99.95

50

Almost Gone. The Aldi version, Espressi, uses its own pods. This one can use the Nespresso ones which most people prefer (based on online forums)

the aldi one got terrible reviews, personally I dont think much of nespresso either but its a good solution for an office and requires minimal effort

by who? seems to be reviewed favourably by most people on ocau and whirlpool (with the exception of a few whingers/nespresso fans)
and people on coffeesnob don't count :)

      • The owner of the coffee snobs site said it was the worst espresso shot he'd ever had. Which is a big call, since he's had a lot of espresso. He did some funky hardware mods to it to get a better pull from it though. Apparently his one wasn't making the water hot enough to get good extraction.

        • -1

whereas my one produces an extraction with steam pouring off it..
so i believe his machine was not a top-notch example to be testing..

    • The Aldi model didn't get all 100% bad reviews, im very happy with mine but ill never compare it to a proper espresso machine like some idiot reviewers did.

I didn't see many poor review of the Aldi unit and did a lot of research before purchasing ours. Haven't looked back since getting it….then again haven't slept due to the amount of coffee I've had since getting it ;-)

  • shipping 9.95

  • Exact same as Kogans: http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/ez-press-coffee-machine-nespres… (inc postage to 3000) $114.60
COTD $99.95+9.95 Ship = $109.90 so pretty good deal if this is what you're after.

  • This is the Aldi one?

I thought The Aldi one is the $80 machine, http://www.expressi.com.au/.

    EDIT: Nevermind. Misunderstood description.

  • Also, what's the deal with the Nespresso disclaimer on both COTD and Kogan's site. Must be very worried about getting sued?

just to make it extra clear… the espressi (clone) machines take nespresso (real) capsules - albeit with some fumbling around due to capsule sizes - but NOT the other way around.

this is despite what the Aldi staff may tell you…

  • just recently bought the pixie for 250 after cash back =)

    • just recently bought the pixie for 288 before cash back ;)

      • May I know where did you get it from pls:) thanks

I have a nespresso and my folk have the aldi one, and I do like a good cup of coffee. Both make a great cup of coffee, I find the Aldi machine a little stronger with most blends. Nespresso has more variety but I end up using 2 capsules per cup to get the strength I like. My experience with cheap coffee machines is the Pumps seams to crap out after a while and most are not a true 15/19 Bars of pressure

good review of this machine here: http://www.cnet.com.au/kogan-ez-press-taste-test-339326287.h…

Also… my mother's Aldi variant died after 3 weeks, so she's returned it and on the wait list for a new one. She liked the machine. Will be interesting to see how long the next one lasts. The coffee that I had from it was fine.

    • I've had mine since the first Saturday they went on sale. Have made maybe 36 cups so far. Excellent for a quick and easy short black, when I don't feel like waiting for the "proper" machine to warm up.

There are a lot of unsupported claims being made here. If a student handed me an essay that said "most people prefer Nescafe" or "the Aldi one got terrible reviews", then they'd need to prove those ridiculous claims, or they'll get a fail grade!

I've tried Nespresso in the past. It's fine. I bought the Aldi Expressi machine ($79) and the Aldi Milk Frother ($20) last week and I think the two-part Aldi approach is infinitely better than the Nespresso one.

Just for the milk frother alone it's better; the Aldi milk frother is a piece of cake to use, and produces nicely frothed milk every time without all the messing about with steam, etc.

The coffees… Nespresso is good, Aldi is equally good (but Aldi is cheaper).

I call bullsh1t on "most people prefer Nescafe" AND "Aldi one got terrible reviews". Those are both rubbish claims.

  • Expresso machines…….use instant coffee, save yourself time & money.

    • +1

      obviously different (from cost).

At least an expresso machine (most of the time) you get a steam nozzle. I don't see one on my instant coffee jar.

  • I use the Nespresso every day and am happy with it. I used to have a coffee machine with built in grounder. My better half put her foot down about the coffee oil build up in the sink (from my inefficient cleaning!). The pod system is a clean solution and she is happy. The coffee is not quite as good, but perfectly acceptable.

I haven't tried the Aldi machine, but thought about it because the coffee is a bit cheaper.

As for these other makes, probably not worth the hassle. I would choose between the Nespresso or Aldi models.

For me, the Nespresso looks good, is well made, is reliable and works well.

    • your review makes it hard to me to wait for their patent to end.

  • +1

I have both the Aldi machine and a Delonghi Lattisima+
If you are a latte drinker.. grab the aldi machine and a breville milk cafe.. there is stuff all difference

  • i vote non-pod coffee machines :)

  • I bought the Krups XN2003 from Amazon Italy for $100 just before Xmas.It came with 16 Nespresso pods and took just 5 days to deliver! (Even cheaper now that the euro has dropped in value) Combined with the ALDI Expressi Milk frother I bought for $19.95 and couldn't be happier…
