Hi all,
My Galaxy is around three years old and in mint condition.
However, for the past 12 months I was having to charge it more frequently.
Last week I took it in to a repair shop for a replacement battery. I was informed that it was a Samsung battery with the original capacity. I was quoted $60 which I thought was very reasonable.
When I picked it up, the technician told me that if I didn't notice any difference, I would need to do a factory reset. I thought that was an odd comment
Anyway, the phone still needs frequent charging and I am wondering if the battery was actually replaced.
Is there any way of knowing without opening up the phone?

you might be able to use some apps which show battery cycles.
Accu battery or i think even Samsung has one now.As well as checking the battery cycles, the technician is referring to battery calibration. A factory reset is not needed but full charges from 15% to 100% over the course of a week will help the phone see the new battery capacity. That is, battery life will improve after a week.
Definitely check the battery cycles first.
$60 is cheap. Where was it from?
Well, I suppose you'll find out in a few days more if the battery was changed.
Very unlikely that they didn't change the battery.. if they were going to scam you, it would be the fact it's an aftermarket or fake Samsung battery.
Maybe he meant there's too many random background processes just sapping the battery so reformat to stock may fix the issue?
Plus I thought there's a function on phone to check battery life/usage. Might need to still use a third party app.
