nbn $25/M off 250/25 & 1000/50, $10/M off Flatrate Plans, 4TB Bonus Databank, $50 Setup Fee @ Future Broadband

FBBFASTFBB1012FBBDD

Future Broadband has some deals on at the moment, presumably to launch their 250Mbit and Gigabit plans. There are a few other offers for those who are happy with slower speeds (or who are stuck on FTTN, FTTB or FTTC which don't support higher speeds). I've used them for a year or so and been very happy with my internet in this WFH world.

Limited to first 500 orders – may be extended.

The offers are valid until 11 April 2021 according to the post linked below.

FBBFAST – $25 off per month for 6 months on selected High-speed (250/1000) flatrate plans. This makes their gigabit plan $120 for 6 months which is equal to SuperLoop and Aussie Broadband, but includes a Static IP

FBB1012 – $10 off per month for 12 months on selected flatrate plans

FBBDD – 4000gb Double Databank Signup Bonus (for lower level usage based plans)

What's unique about Future Broadband?
- Static Routed IP Address (ie a static IP address is included - you pay an extra monthly fee at many ISPs for this)
- Business-Grade IP Network (based on my experience the speed and connectivity is very stable - it doesn't differ at peak hour)
- Good local customer support (Perth business hours)
- They require VLAN ID .. this can be a negative, but as long as your router supports it, it's a very quick one-time configuration - just make sure your router does.
- They have a setup fee of $50 which covers the setup of your static IP… Usually you can mostly offset this with a referral code which you can obtain on OzBargain, but these offers can't be combined with a referral code, so really the offer is the value of the rebate (either $150 or $120 minus the setup fee)

What's the benefit of static IP ?

    • +1

could be running a server from home and always knowing the ip so that you can connect to it remotely. I used to have one years ago and it was useful only for that.

      • nah mate, static doesnt justify their price/setup fee, if someone techy wana use remotely, DDNS is faaar more common to use, gives flexibility to change RSP's whenever needed, so static IP nowadays is pretty useless unless your VPN devices dont accept a FQDN etc

    • CGNAT is just bad

    • For work I have a number of applications that I need to register a IP address for logging in. Prefer not to login to work VPN 24/7

    • +3

As others have said, mainly if you’re running a web server from home or authenticating with someone by IP address. For these use cases, a static IP is quite important and makes a huge difference. But by and large, the kinds of users affected by this would already know they needed it. For normal users it doesn’t make a difference

    • I personally use it so that I can VPN back to the home network to get access to my home server

2021 and still charging a setup fee?

    • +1

I do agree, but I looked at it as a one-time fee for a static IP rather than monthly like most other ISPs. The only one I can think of which is different is Launtel with which you can pay a refundable $100 fee, or $54.75 a year. This is reasonable in that light.

      • +3

Setup fee also keeps the leechers away!

Also in my opinion the FBB pricing is highly competitive and negates forcing me to change providers every 6 months. I just renewed 6mth prepaid to save 7% on my plan (1800gb/m)

        • Don't many ISPs give you a static IP automatically? I remember back in the day we used to have to request a dynamic IP if you wanted one.

          • @videoman: No. Since NBN many companies have limited IPv4 IPs.

The only companies that hold a lot of them are big companies eg. Telstra, Optus, TPG. And TPG just buy up other companies such as internode, iiNet, comindico, pipe networks etc..

Thus tpg have a big archive of IPv4 addresses.

          • @videoman: ISPs give you a sticky IP that doesn't change often but can change at anytime. To get an IP that never changes purchase a static IP.

          • @videoman: Mate broadband gives static IPs for free for every customer.

        • Essentially a business TPG product isn't it?

          • +1

@Turd: AAPT IP-Line product, which is owned by TPG, yes

        • I agree that FBB's pricing is very competitive and good value for what you get. The routed IP means any downtime is kept to a minimum. This makes the service extremely stable. I think the setup fee keeps the short-term bargain hunters away, the ones that change RSP every 6 months. FBB tries to keep people for the long-term. As for me, I'm super-happy with FBB and won't be going anywhere else for the foreseeable future.

    • yeah reminds me of 2000 when fees were common for adsl days

      $50 setup fee

      $10 for a simple speed change up/down

      $10 for setting up ipv6

      it's in the CIS

  • The only reason they can offer this is also due to TPG upgrading all their users to free 1000/50 or higher plan for 6 months. This allows tpg to test their network. Like a stress test.

You'll soon see TPG offering 1000/50 plans.

    • Not sure what you're talking about. Future Broadband uses NBN, not TPG infrastructure. This deal is based on an 6-month NBN promotion to coax customers into the faster tiers.

      • +1

Future Broadband use APPT-IP Line, APPT is owned by TPG.

And yes all over the NBN delivery access method.

$25 better off using a referral code instead of FBBDD, as you will have 3000GB and $35 credit, then it’s $10 for 1000GB.

    • Until the end of April, the referral code will get both referee and referrer 3500GB of bonus data and $35 credit. This, combined with the 2000GB of signup data, means that a new customer, who uses a referral code, will have a total of 5500GB of bonus data in their data bank. More incentive to use a referral code rather than the FBBDD code.

      • Where do you get the referral codes from?

        Sorry if a dumb question

        • Not a dumb question. Scroll up on this page to just below the description of the offer. You will see REFERRAL LINKS. Right below that you will see 'Referral' with 'random (29)'. Click on random and you will get a Future Broadband referral code from a registered FBB customer.

Alternatively, if you know a Future Broadband customer that has helped you in the past, you can ask them for a referral code. Every FBB customer has them.

          • @ozimarco: I tried the referral code when submitting an order for new FBB plan ($95 100/40), but it doesn't show any discount - still $ 95/per month

            • @Celts88: The discount of $35 will come off your first invoice. The bonus data will also show on your first invoice. Don't worry, it'll be fine.

              • @ozimarco: Is it $35 discount per month, or just a once off saving of $35?

Also is that for any plan (be that flat rate or not)?

                Appreciate your help.

                • @Celts88: It's a once-off saving of $35 and yes, it applies to any plan, whether flatrate or not. The bonus data obviously does not apply to flatrate.

  • has anyone used their wireless plans?
how are their speeds and consistency, thinjking of switching from tesltra.

    • I can't personally comment, but this thread seems to indicate Future Broadband Fixed Wireless NBN is good:
      https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/38wjykp9

    • Future Broadband is known for its consistency/reliability/stability across all the available technologies. Previously, we had ADSL with them. It was just as rock-solid as our NBN connection at the moment. We have also pre-ordered a Fixed Wireless connection for our semi-rural property because we are confident it will be just as good. As for Telstra, after our experiences with them, I would not touch them with a barge pole.

  • Vs $89 at mate…. Nah I don't think a static IP is worth $30 a month

  • Brings it equal to superloop /Aussie broadband????
Mate there's not even an option for unlimited internet.

So not sure what you mean by equal to superloop /Aussie broadband it doesn't even come close to tangerine and you saying superloop/ Aussie broadband

    • Yes, equal price, but as it includes a static IP it could be considered better value if you need it.

Most of the high speed plans are flat rate (unlimited)

      • +1

        I am with Superloop and getting 1000/50 for $80/month for 6 months :) ( It’s a free upgrade for my 100/40 for next 6 months )

        • +1

Yes, I totally agree it's a far much greater value, superloop even had a one month free NBN 1000 plan later last year

      • -1

mate, u cud get ABB biz plan $79 with unltd data and static IP, routed Static IP vs DHCP assigned is no real value for an end user, even for a power user.

so, setup fee, non-unltd expensive data plans is a big NO NO and yeah, u dont need to keep checking ur usage and have that hassle

        • Horses for courses. I am very happy with my Future Broadband $70 600GB 50/20 data banking plan. Great stability/consistency. Good local customer support. I don't need to check my usage as I have plenty of data in my data bank. The small setup fee is quickly forgotten. I paid it two and a half years ago. You can partially offset it with the referral discount.

  • From the Whirlpool forum:

    <<
    Referral Bonus Update
Our current referral program offers the existing customer and the new customer $35 credit and 1000GB bonus, each, upon activation of the new customer service.

From today until the 30th of April 2021 we are offering an additional 2500GB bonus for each on top of the 1000GB, making it 3500GB each.

Nothing needs to be done to take advantage of this bonus, bonus data, other than to refer your friends 🙂 The bonus will be applied automatically for all referrals. >>

This 3500GB of referral bonus data is on top of the 2000GB signup bonus data. This means that a new customer who uses a referral code gets a grand total of 5500GB of bonus data plus a $35 discount. This is much better than the FBBDD offer that only gives you 4000GB and no money. So make sure you get a referral code either from Ozbargain or from an existing customer.

Take note: the extra 2500GB of referral bonus data (on top of the normal 1000GB) + $35 is only current till the end of April. After that, it will revert to the usual 1000GB and $35 discount.

This offer was posted in one of the Future BB threads on Whirlpool on 7 Apr 2021 and is valid until the 30th of April. The thread heading says valid until 11 April but ignore that. The correct expiry date for the offer is in the post itself.

Have just signed up with this option, fairly painless process. So far so good, finding the service much more responsive than ABB for the same speed tier, so happy with it so far.

      • Good to hear from another satisfied customer. Enjoy!

  • Remember that on signup to Future Broadband, you can only use one discount voucher (or code), so choose wisely. Whether you are better off with a referral or one of the other offers depends on your personal requirements. So give it some thought before you decide on the best way to proceed. In some cases, the prepay option can be worth more than $5 off per month but if you choose the $5 off option, the prepay option will not be available for at least 6 months.

In short, these are all good offers, so grab one of them while you can.

  • All of the above offers have been extended until the 30th of April (some offers previously expired on the 11th of April).

  • Is it possible to use a referral code and elect to prepay for 6 months at sign up?

    • +1

You can use a referral code at signup but you need to wait until you are connected before you can prepay for 6 months.

If you are planning to use a referral code for a databanking plan, it would pay to do so before the end of the month so that you can take advantage of the extra 2500GB of bonus data that is only valid for this month.

If you signed up prior to April 30 and used a referral code, you would get:
      - $35 discount on your first invoice
      - 2000GB of signup bonus data for your data bank
      - 1000GB of referral bonus data for your data bank
      - 2500GB of extra referral bonus data (offer available until April 30)

So you would start off with a total of 5500GB of bonus data. You only need to sign up by April 30. You can nominate a future date for when you want your service actually connected. Once connected, you can prepay via the portal or by contacting FBB.

  • +1

Just to clarify what I wrote earlier when I wrote that the extra 2500GB of bonus data was only valid for this month, what I meant was that the 'offer' was valid for this month only. The bonus data itself does not expire. It stays in the data bank indefinitely until it is used.

I tried to edit my previous post but the window of opportunity to do so had expired. I apologise for any confusion.

    • +1

Thanks ozimarco. Have signed up and got connected today. Looking forward to all that FBB has to offer.
