Last week I called Harvey Norman Alexandria and they said the $398 deal was still available and they had 5 instock.
is it still available at that price?
give them a call and ask ???
lol
The deal is still good but it's worth considering the 550D kit for only about $160 extra. It's quite a bit more camera for the difference including 1080p video and 50% more stills resolution.
get it from dwi with 3 year mack warranty for $620 delivered.
People still should chase the $398 deal. I assume it is same body and lens made in Taiwan.
for newbie…is Canon EOS 1100D better than 550D ?
no
no
Lower the number the better it is.
has to be defined in the same generation, 1100D is def better than 350D !
LOL… guess I better upgrade to an 1100D then.
Slapped. lol
no three
ohh ok, seen any best deal for 550D in AU?
you are a newbie, use 1100d for a beginner
yeah, Im new to the D-SLR world :)
My point exactly, why would you be looking for 550D deal?
Agreed. Don't waste your time on a 550D. Not worth it. In the competitions where everyone has a basic disposable camera, or competitions in the same class, it comes down the the person. Having a good eye for things, skill etc. Practice on the 1100D is fine. I really doubt it is worth double the price. I would find it hard to say you will be getting double the value.
ebay —$579 with one year "AU" warranty which claimed by ebay hongkong seller, just saw 2 days before.
I bought this:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/160562281575?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN…
Was delivered in 3 business days; trusted seller and awesome camera. Worth the extra few bucks!
And buy this DVD course:
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/58225I can not recommend the DVD course enough…
I'm happy for my 1100D for $368, personally I don't think it's worth $210 more for a beginner!
Go the 550D. It gives you room to grow. It all depends on your budget.
+1 for that but what if OP doesn't like camera. That will be a waste of money.
-re nicksnoobie : If you don't like the camera you'll have a very good chance of off-loading the 550D. It's a very popular model.
+1 - get 550D it is well worth extra ~$200.
Seriously. All BS aside. Not worth it. Would be really hard to compare the difference. It's the person, opportunity and skill behind the camera.
$368 i got it for.. i forgot to upload the receipt for someone on the other thread.. but i'll upload it here
nice price, I counted mine as $368, only because of the Westfield voucher.
here is the receipt

what are the odds of a successful price match of this, a week and a half later? ;)
Why did they do that price? Were they matching/beating somewhere else that you told them about?
sales guy stuff up lol
read about it here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/58188?page=1#comment-713918
Bought the 600D (Kiss X5) with Lens kit for $659.95 off Shopping Square not too long ago, thought that was pretty cheap
looks like a good deal to me.
Managed to get the 1100d from HN/Domayne in the Valley (Brisbane) for $398 a few days ago!
Hey, could you please upload the receipt! :D
550D flogs the 1100D in value terms… juz sayinnn
Justifying a purchase?
justifying a passion?
As has been said before….much better getting the cheapest DSLR possible and getting some good lenses for the beginner.
Same thing goes for people buying mid-to-high range notebooks only to read email and check facebook…unnecessary!
There's also the 600D TLK for $988. JB has now "matched it" at $987 but very few have any stock.
