if you're talking about Resizable BAR, it's only supported on the latest RTX3000 series and older cards like the pascal based GT1030 isn't supported and probably never will.
PCIE gen 3 on this board vs gen 2 coming from Sandy Bridge. PCIE 3 is twice as fast. For a GT1030, it won't make a difference.
Thanks, this was what I wanted to know! So what Graphic cards will really benefit from PCIE gen 3? Gtx 750 ti? Gtx 1050 ti? Gtx 1650 ti? or rtx?
low-mid range cards like 1650 probably isn't going to be bottlenecked in a PCIE 2.0 slot.
What is likely to happen though is your older gen CPU might not be able to keep up. Unless you've got a really fast Core i7 2600K that's been overclocked to 4ghz, it's possible it may hold back back cards faster than a 1650 Super.
I ended up doing some digging. As the other response says, your CPU will more likely become an issue before PCIE. There's this article on PCIE scaling with a 3080 which doesn't show a significant difference between gen 2, 3 and 4.
@ihfree: thanks for helpful links. looks like i'll have to get a few new components. maybe when nvidia launches rtx 4000 series. Gtx 1650's are going for what gtx 1660's once went for :*(. thought sandy bridge was unstoppable. guess not anymore,
If you upgrade from the Sandy Bridge motherboard you need a new CPU and DDR4 RAM. PCIe gen 4 is out.
yup, i will jump ship once gpu prices seem okay. every old gpu deal on ozb should be on the front page now.
There is a shortage on GPUs. It will be a long time before prices drop.
@Twix: because there is a lot of people buying GPUs for bitcoins now, so ye, gona be a long time before price got to steady. even with the older GPUs, price raised as well
@LegoLexus: You could get a GTX 1650, recoup some of its value to make up for the inflation. but that's talking $1 buck a day for running a pc 24/7. go figure. better off just finding $1 in coins at the supermarket.
@Twix: happy to wait not gonna overpay price jacking retailers, have a good night.
Hey,
Has there been any recent to new motherboards that would affect/improve the performance of Graphics Cards?
If I have a gt 1030 in a sandy bridge mobo will graphics perfomance be the worse/same/better on the gt 1030 in a new mobo? Has PCIE changed? Assuming you factor out the cpu bottleneck.
