Nice one, really wanna pull the trigger but I've already got something better to play with… guess I won't pay the dollars just for it being official.

    • Deal is not yet OOS for the last 11hours since this post.

Might have past the euphoria phase.

$59 for those with Little Birdie voucher.

    • +1

what is a Little Birdie voucher?

      • +6

        No one has told me.

      • If you go to "https://www.littlebirdie.com.au/", you can seemingly receive a voucher for use on a host of sites, limited to 1.

Not certain as to its legitimacy/reliability, though (but I also applied for one).

    • Finally got it! Thanks.

  • +6

Had mine from the first batch. Still on the shelf sealed.

    • +6

You may as well get it out & keep the contents mint.
I really doubt it's going worth that much in the future.
The OG boxed game & watches are worth big money because people didn't think they were "collectable" at the time, just relatively cheap toys. Hence, now some of the more obscure ones are worth big money. This one, on the other hand, has millions sold and I'm guessing everyone keeping the box etc.
      Anyway, it's still a nice shelf item :-) :-)

They have been available in other countries without issue from what I have seen, USA and NZ sites had plenty.

      • They weren’t cheap

        • They were available at their retailers like Best Buy in the US and JB in NZ at the RRP. More of a comment that they are available in large quantity globally.

          • @eggaz: I was talking about the original Game & Watch. They were the iPhone of their time.

        • +1

I agree, from memory they were $50-80, depending on the model. Which was a 'pretty penny' in the early 80s!!

      • +1

I am not expect it becoming more valuable. I just never own one when I was a child. Remember how badly I want one and my parents never get me.

        • +1

So if you wanted it so badly why keep it boxed?

          • @serpserpserp: When you didn't have something as a kid sometimes people just like to own it when they're able to afford it. A collector just likes to have things like this, looks good on the shelf, cabinet or in the cave - why do people like collecting card, stamp or coin sets?

            • @eggaz: Not me. Recently boughta pair of Nike Air Jordans, Reebok Pumps, and this Game and Watch because never had them growing up. Now that I have them, I wear and use them in case I get hit by a bus tomorrow. I need to actually Hills and use that thing to truely enjoy it and tick it off my list.

            • @eggaz: I understand the concept of a collector. But the person who made the comment isn't a collector.

It will have higher value. I remembered thinking about the same about eh Gameboy Micro and now look at how much sellers are asking.

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nintendo-Gameboy-Micro-20th-Anni…

        • +1

I remember flogging off my GB micro after a few years play and having moved onto the NDS.
I find the whole thing more laughable than sad at not hanging onto it. As a kid I remember learning how stuff like diamonds were a bit of an artificial market. Now as an adult I see things like LEGO and shake my head … at least diamonds have to be dug out of the ground.

That said lesson learnt. Not going to ditch that broken Famicom and one day I'll still build my LEGO Kwik-E-Mart lol.

        • When you see something still listed on eBay asking for insane price is because the seller still unable to sell it. Scalpers can set any price they want, the important thing is whether the item is really that sought-after that people are rushing to buy at asking price.

        • +1

$2000 and still asking $30 for delivery

      • +1

it will definitely be worth the premium eventually, but I think that "eventually" will be around 30 to 40 years from now.

The confronting reality is that those of us who feel nostalgic about these devices now, will likely not be around in another 40 years anyway!

  • Thanks OP! Got one for my god son

  • Tempted, but it will probably just sit there…

  • +1

Still cheaper shipped from the UK through prime. Obviously a lot slower though $76.16

They must have really ramped up production and we may actually see these on shop shelves!

  • Damn.. Can I cancel my order with JB and get a refund or something to get it from Amazon instead?

    • +1

Yes JB HIFi will give you a refund, thinking to do the same, rather than wait until the end of month.

    • Yep, should be quick and easy.
I just cancelled and got the cancellation email within 2 mins.

      • How did you cancel the JB order?

        • +3

          https://support.jbhifi.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360053850973…

Click on Contact Us and submit request with your order number for order cancellation, should be done quickly.

          • @JMokha: thank you. Just done that.

          • @JMokha: Do you know how they refund gift card purchases ?

            • @popsiee: I guess they send you a Jb-hifi e-gift card for the amount of purchase to your email id.

              • @JMokha: Its like the 8 retailers I mainly deal with all do different things . Hopefully someone knows the answer .

                • +2

@popsiee: Had a look at the cancellation email again, here you go:

If your payment method was credit card or PayPal, please allow up to 3-5 business days to see this back in your account. If your payment method was gift card, please allow 1-3 business days for a replacement card to be emailed to you.

Man.. this is nuts. I cancelled my order yesterday JB HiFi and put one in with Amazon. Got it delivered at 11am this morning (Sunday)!! Little wonder why the retail stores are so afraid of Amazon..

    • I wanted to do the same but JB already shipped my order yesterday.

      • hmm.. interesting. I got mine cancelled today and they sent me a confirmation of the cancellation with a paypal refund.

        • +1

They gave me an Auspost tracking number so I couldn‘t cancel the order :(

          • @FrugalNotStingy: Crazy man.. I got the Amazon delivery this morning at 11am! I only put the order in yesterday afternoon..

            • @bchliu: Should have really waited other than jumped on JB preorder. Would have saved the delivery cost and possibly would have received one today if I ordered from Amazon instead.

    Thanks got 10

    • Too bad the profit margin is quite slim after flipping these on eBay and elsewhere.

      • +5

        Got 0. 👍

        • Not too late!

    • -1

Yeah time to move on to next flip, these are done

      • Any suggestions?

        • Sure load up with 10% off Ebay cards and 1000's of products available double stacked with the Afterpay code .
Of course the most lucrative stuff has been whacked hard :)

        • +6

While we like very cheap and free stuff here, information leading to profitable flips is something we'll never give away for free.

  • +2

I know if I buy this it will probably never be opened and played. Since I can already play this and the rest of the NES and SNES library on my modded New 2DS XL.

  • Thanks, always wanted one of these, a little to play, but t the clock seems awesome :)

  • Ordered mine, man I loved these as a kid!

    • Much simpler times, I remember them well.

The original Game and watch wouldn't hold a childs attention for more than a couple of minutes in this day & age.

  • Just one game?

  • +1

    Got mine today! <3

  • Just got mine from Target. Too lazy to bother with anywhere else. https://www.target.com.au/p/nintendo-game-watch-super-mario-…
