    It’s not touchless

    • +1

agreed, the important point is "It's become popular with professional detailers & car enthusiasts before hand washing their cars". Just an extra step in the process which might give a better result but after trying it once I couldn't be bothered

      • can i skip the foam gun, and just go pressure washer? or is that bad

    • +1

Well, it is touchless, nothing except water and shampoo touches the car.

If the point was that you still have to wash by hand to get the best result, 100% agree. This will remove some gunk, but not much.

Where I find it most useful is after washing, to apply Happy Ending, which gives a really good beading finish once you're done with the wash. You can also use another product of theirs which comes in a spray bottle which you apply by hand with a microfibre, but this is much easier, spray it all over the car, then blast it off with the power washer a minute later, works brilliantly.

agree! Happy ending is a game changer.

Honestly just buy one of AliExpress - they're equally as good in quality. Just take a little while to ship (usually less than 2 weeks if you choose ePacket)

I have a Meguiar's one and an Aliexprss brand one (MJJC) and there is practically no difference. $80 vs $20-30

    • +1

Repco also have their own. They usually have a sale for the cannon + shampoo for a good price

    • tbh there is a difference, its normally the thread on the cheapies is average at best so you need to use teflon tape so its a tight fit
I have a branded unit and its horrible.. Every 5 uses i need to tighten it/teflon tape.

This is because my karcher uses a "push & screw on" nozzle so with that pressure im effectively over forcing the teflon tape and then my Cannon area ends up being 90 degrees to where my trigger button is.

Mine was a good $70 and its crap.
Pretty much 4x the price of this and its horrible - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33006319165.html?spm=a2g0o.p…

    • I used to think the same and do have a cheapie, a Meg's and a Bowden's. The Bowden's is by far the best. Much better fan adjustment, the stubby bottle stops it falling over, adapters fit nicer in my Gerni and just overall nicer to use.

The cheap one is much like the Meg's though, chances are they come out of the same factory. Using Happy Ending in the cheap one lasted about 6 months before it completely blocked up (yes I rinse it after every use). The Bowdens has been going strong for probably 12 months….and if they stop working, you send it back, they'll clean it, get it working properly and send it back.

    • There is a massive difference between Meguiar's and MJJC.

Replaceable mesh and far better quality components on the MJJC. They also do a pro version to compete with MTM.

There is only 1 better foam canon above MJJC.

      That's the MTM hydro.

I purchased an unbranded one from eBay for less than $20 a couple of years back, I use it just about every week and it's still going strong.

Changed the nozzle jet to a 1.1mm one and it's producing more foam than ever.

Can someone put up a link to AliExpress of similar product please?

    • What type/brand of connection fittings do you need? There are a couple of different ones around.

  • +1

    Overpriced plain and simple

  • Little bit cheaper on their eBay store with voucher/eBay Plus. Can still C&C

  • I switched to Bowden's Own products a year or two ago after previously using a well known international brand. I think they are great products, innovative, well designed, made for the Australian environment (eg. hot climate / harsh sun) and reasonably priced, especially as they're regularly on sale (25-30% off).

Note everything is made in Australia using Australian sourced materials (even the plastic bottles) so I think it's great to support the local economy. In fact, if you look at their Instagram stories today they have a brief shot of the Cannon being assembled/ packaged up in their warehouse.

Also I found out they do free servicing on the Cannon - ie. you can send it to them (located in Queensland), they will clean/service it and send it back to you (I think you may still need to pay postage costs though).

Yes you can probably buy cheaper etc. elsewhere but based on the above factors I think it's a good purchase/great Australian brand.

Is the cannon actually made in Australia? No reason why it couldn't be but I somehow doubt it.

Good product which comes with a sample bottle of Snow Job (well mine did).

    • Wrong, not everything is made in Australia, another fanboy spewing lies. Secondly another lie is made for the Australian environment, my snow job is clear because its discolouration from the sun.

      • Upon further research you're right, some stuff is not made in AU (eg. microfibres) so possible the cannon is not wholly made in AUS. But a lot of their products are, and at least they are packaged here. They do say they try to be as Aussie made as much as possible.

I don't know if you should be storing products in the sun, but for example their auto body gel product doesn't streak if used in the sun and the products are tested here (and undergo over a year of testing before being released in some cases).

I've used Happy Ending and Afterglow as finishing products on my car - they seem durable and still have a strong beading effect after several months (although my car is Ceramic coated, but beading effect is even better after the products are applied).

my snow job is clear because its discolouration from the sun

Gilding the lily much? Know what you mean though. Mine turned green because of discolouration from the moonlight.

        • Yes, that is happening too.

          • @sunnyc: I'd suggest your attempted snow job isn't working. Too much sun perhaps?

Can you use this with a normal garden hose? Or can you get a fitting like this for a garden hose?

    • +1

I'm fairly sure there won't be enough pressure to generate foam using normal mains water so won't be very useful. You need a pressure washer with a minimum PSI rating, can't recall what this is but there is some guidance online.

    • +1

Another example of garden hose foam gun:
      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000619077501.html

I've got one similar and it get ~50% of the way compared to pressure washer version. I do the tiles, walls, windows using sugar soap or detergent, etc when I don't want to get the karcher out.

      • could i turn my garden hose into a pressure washer too?

  • +1

@ MAB Not this type but you can get them for connecting to garden hoses (lower pressure).

    This is an example only.
