[XB1, XSX, SUBS] Outriders Added to Xbox Game Pass @ Microsoft

1060

Starting April 1 (not an April Fool’s joke, I assure you), Xbox Game Pass for Console and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can jump into this true genre-hybrid from Square Enix, which combines brutal combat with deep RPG systems. Outriders is set in the distant future where players attempt to colonize a planet that they believe to be a new home for humanity. Turns out, the planet doesn’t want them there. Oops. A mysterious storm called the Anomaly burnt out all the tech that’s more advanced than a lightbulb, hyper-evolved the wildlife into ferocious monsters, and colonization efforts broke down into a bitter war of attrition for the last remaining resources available to humanity.

Any idea if you can cross play this with steam friends
anyonee? I preordered this last week on steam and so did my mate. Can I still play with him if I have it on game pass and he has it on steam? Also is this 100% verified? Don't want to cancel just to have this not happen lol
Edit: I can see that it doesn't specifically mention PC.

    • There cross play so im guessing u can

      • +2

Nah I realised after I commented that its not included in game pass for PC only xbox and game stream. On PC its only available through steam and epic store.

        • I was talking about cross playing with ur friend

You should cancel if you can. Good grief why did you pre-order.. early impressions are that it's a dud game.

      • +6

Really? Thought the demo was fun as hell with an interesting story

        • +1

Yeah, I'm really enjoying it. I see it as a bit like D3 shooter, not heaps of skills to use, gun play is good, team play is fun, the story seems interesting enough and I'm really like the weapon and armour designs. There's gonna be plenty of different builds based on the classes, skills, talent trees and mods.

      • +2

Yeah still playing the demo, I am having a lot of fun with it. Its probably not everyone's cup of tea. I am a big fan of The Division series and I can see a lot of similarities in gameplay, I think I am going to enjoy it.

As someone who played the demo, doesn't seem a dud to me.

      • Pretty boring game to be honest. Crappy version of Gears and the characters/story line are woeful.
Played it for about an hour and that was enough

        • +4

Plays significantly differently to gears. You don't use cover nearly as much. There is a whole different dimension with anomaly powers, skill tree etc. To me the story was interesting. I genuinely want to see what happens next. To each their own.

          • @Xastros: Just another grindy shooter to me.. Loot boxes, bla bla. Can't stand that stuff.
The main character is so bloody annoying and the voiceover acting is woeful.

            • +1

@Maz78: Actually the game is not a live service game. No microtransactions whatsoever. No lootboxes. Not even cosmetics for sale. Finite content. Not an endless grinder like Destiny/Division. Whether that's good or not is subjective. Certainly the game has flaws, more than what you've highlighted. End of the day I enjoyed the demo. I liked the anomaly powers. I like that you get everything only by playing the game and they don't create artificial gates to frustrate you into spending on microtransactions. Might buy the game eventually after more reviews come out.

            • @Maz78: ummm what lootboxes?

              • @Trump2020: Possibly confusing the concept of a loot-shooter with lootboxes?

        • not even comparable to Gears, stop comparing Apples to Oranges

    • +1

I think PC users who subscribes Xbox Game Pass Ultimate should get this game as well.

      • +2

Agreed! the PC Game Pass Library is less extensive than Xbox.

      • Its only on Xbox, not Xbox Game Pass for PC. Its only available on Steam or Epic on PC.

  • +3

    Why not PC as well?

    • Probably Epic's fault.
But many other games have previously debuted on xbox game pass and then a few weeks or a month later have been added to PC game pass. Hoping this will be one of them as running this game at 30fps on my xbox one x feels awful.

  • WOW - nice

  • +7

Note this is console only, not PC gamepass.

    • Damn that's unfortunate

    • +1

Sucks, I was thinking for a second that I would be getting good use out of my game pass haha. hopefully they implement cloud saves that you can link game stream and steam saves with. Would like to have the option to stream this when I am not at my PC.

Gotta love Mack. Knew it'd be that video second I saw a link lmao

  • Next question is will it be a good game

  • Looks pretty like gears of War

  • Playing at 30fps feels like arse on my Xbox One X, really wish they would add a 1080p 60fps mode on there, it should be able to do it.

    'true genre hybrid'

It feels a lot like Destiny mashed together with The Divisions cover system to me

If only it had the satisfying fizz of an alien head popping off that Destiny had (the shooter mechanics are not as good imo)

On the other hand the perks and powers are insane.

  • +2

Good… Because I played the demo of this game and there was no way I was going to pay full price for this Anthem/Destiny/Division/Gears of War mash up…

  • +1

ill play that demo now, nice

for those wondering, the progress in the demo carries over to game

  • +1

Played the demo and it was not fun at all, never skipped so many cutscenes in my life.

  • +1

Played the demo and like it, would i pay $99 for it? not a chance. $49… yeah I would.

    Free on game pass? GIIIIDYUP!

  • +1

Playing it right now and loving it

    • I was playing like mad on PC, gonna wait for 3am drop. But I did grab it for free on the old Xbox lol
