Fujifilm Provia 100F - 120 Film - 36 Exposures $15.60 + Delivery

Check Ikigai Camera, for other film stocks.

Standard post is $7.50, express $9.50 and have "Same Day - Melbourne - 10 KM from CBD - 11:30 AM CUT OFF — $25.00 AUD".

Also the cheapest I've seen Portra 400 in 35mm ($16.50) and 120 ($16.00) for a while. It was on a national shortage just over a week ago.

If you've got space in your fridge, you can keep the film for a decent amount of time for future shoots.

  • Any good store for film cameras/ accessories based in AU?

    • You've got a few places available. It just depends on your budget. These are some noteworthy camera vendors (I haven't bought from either but respect what they do):

Beginning Film: They'll source you a camera for a fee. They get some clean looking units.

Keith Marshall: Dude buys cameras, gives them a full service and then sells them. Price is premium but there's a limited warranty available which is cool.

Otherwise eBay has those "Mint ++++ spider in the lens" type deals.

  • I miss the good ole Velvia days.

    • I miss Kodachrome.

  • Hey kids, this is called photographic film. Back in the good old days, we used to take up to 36 photos on a $10 roll of film. Had to fill the whole roll before processing, and no you couldn't delete any images. That film then had to be bathed in various chemical baths before being projected onto paper that received its own chemical treatments. Only then could you see the image, and it only cost $10 to process the photos!

    Ah, the good old days.

You still can get a film processed at Big W for $9.98

      (I work for Big W)

      • I guess that depends on location, right? Does it include scanning the film?

Google doesn't know and mostly gives results about Big W ceasing that service.

So, alot of stores have had their film processors ripped out. but those stores will send the film away for processing. (about 10 business day turn around) That comes back with a set of prints and the film scanned to a CD you'll need to go to the technology counter to organize it all.

@Makka: $9.98 for processing, scanning onto a CD and prints sounds cheap as!

      • Assuming colour negatives only?

(Would love to start using a lot of leftover Velvia slides)..

        • It’s a c41 process only sadly. You can cross process e6 film in c41 chemistry but it won’t come out as a positive like your slides do, it does come out quiet nice but.

Good price - although, the owner of Ikigai is probably the biggest drama queen in the Australian film community. Regularly trash talks competing labs, going as far as to spread baseless rumours and even make racist jokes against fellow proprietors. He does sometimes have a valid point to make, but does so in such a poor manner and in the midst of so many false accusations that its hard to take him seriously at all.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, he can't seem to take any criticism himself, and bans anyone who speaks out against him or his lab on the large facebook film photography group that he runs. The man and his business practices are r/HobbyDrama dream material.

As with all niche hobbies, there's a good dollop of needlessly unhelpful elitism and drama in the community and he has just as many supporters as he has detractors.

Won't be supporting his business and I never recommend him to friends getting into the hobby - competitors tend to be more affordable, accessible and supportive of the larger community anyway.

ok price, not the best out there, but alright.
Still bought a few rolls of Provia as the supply will be drying up soon and i'm down to my last 10 shots (on 6x7)

Also bought a roll of the E100 in 35mm to give that a go. Been keen to try it ever since they announced they're bringing it back from the dead
