  • Love my wera scrw driver set, is this any good?

    • Have a set at work, yes it's good. The bit rachet is small, but very solid and well made so you can put a fair bit of force on it.

    • I've got it, it's very good imo. The Philips heads always have a better fit than my Makita counterparts

    • have one, absolutely love it

Thanks OP, on back-order now, I got the last one!

$114 for the plus kit at Bunnings - https://www.bunnings.com.au/wera-39-piece-tool-check-plus-co… - just to point out a comparison.

    • +1

I had them price beat the last time this went on sale. I was hand balled onto someone else but managed to get it through (I think you need prime for free shipping on international orders, so make sure you use your own phone to show them)

  • I just watched a video showing this kit…it's TINY…literally midget sized ratchet.. so just beware…that put me off as I wanted something a little easier to hold

    • Correct - works well as a palm ratchet. Not much leverage but as someone else mentioned it’s great quality and handy item for the tool kit

      • Yeah, I bring this with me whenever I'm doing random jobs around the home. I find it very useful. For what it's worth I use L to XL size gloves and I find the ratchet fine

    • +2

I know it looks small, but its very good quality.
I have big hands (XL gloves are mandatory- not big noting myself, I literally don't fit a L), and it's easy to find strength in bigger and cheaper ratchets.

This IS small, but it's actually very strong/well made. I was afraid I'd destroy it, but so far it hasn't skipped a beat… and neither have the sockets.
Very well made, and very handy to have a small good quality ratchet like this for tight spaces.

      • What do you use them for? I bought this https://www.amazon.com.au/Bosch-Screwdriver-Ratchet-Colour-C… a couple of years ago and have yet found a use for them. Maybe if I didn't have normal socket sets I could find a use?

        • +3

Similar set, but I like the socket set on the Wera. I've used it on a lawn mower, tough access nuts in an engine bay where you can reach down and touch the nut, but cant get a full sized ratchet in there (this will sit in your palm and you can maneuver enough to manipulate the ratchet to turn tight fitting screws and nuts), lots of places.

I actually like to use this set for anything that doesnt require a lot of force as well… like when stuffing about with kids stuff like RC cars etc.
It's so small its like you are turning the nut with your fingers (but you obviously aren't).

I don't hold it like you normally would on a bigger ratchet. I lay it across my palm and hold the ratchet head between my thumb and index finger. It's hard to explain in writing, but when you're fiddling about with small parts on the table, this little ratchet just sits there among the parts and doesn't get in the way. Pick up the part, pick the ratchet in one hand go.

Anyway sorry for the long winded reply, but I just love it. Much quicker using this in one hand vs a full size ratchet… especially for low torque applications.

The purpose of this is a mini tools set. Hence the perfect size for EDC ultra compact purposes.

Also helps to have this complement full size tools thatbsokt fit when working in confined spaces.e.g car engine bar, under the sink areas. Between two server racks.

  • Shame they dont tell you all the different sizes you get

Aldi sell. A set a couple of times a year for about $25 similar to this one

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001330385939.html?spm=a2g0o…

I use it all the time and bought a second one just in case i lose it

    • I tried to order the Aliexexpress set, but it won’t deliver to Australia

  • Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months.

    Really?!?

    • I've bought a few tools from Amazon UK… they bloody take ages.

Worth the wait though… much cheaper than here.

      • Everything's taking ages in and out of the UK these days.

    • Mine got shipped on Thursday and is meant to be arriving the end of next week. Fastest 1 to 2 months ever!

Got the plus version from Bunnings with trade discount. I was specifically after the ratchet tool because it's the only one I've seen where you can stick in a bit without an adaptor, making it perfect for undoing hex/torx/security bits in tight spaces.
I have standard ratchet set for sockets but this kit goes in my tech bag
