AMD Ryzen 7 5800X + Ekwb EK-AIO 240 D-RGB 240mm ARGB LED Liquid CPU Cooler $799 + Delivery @ Shopping Express

570

A great bundle for those building a new PC, since the 5800x doesn't come with a boxed CPU Heatsink and Fan combo like the Ryzen 5 5600x, you would need to purchase one yourself, and the Ekwb EK-AIO 240 would do the job just fine.

Deal extended until the 15th 30th.

It was ~$136 for the EK-AIO 240 on a previous bargain, so this prices the 5800x at $583, then plus delivery.

    • That sucks. I just bought that deal and it came today. Wanted to buy 5800x. Not sure why I am seeing 799 on the website. Makes me feel a little better haha.

      • +1

Discount is added in when you check out, since it had a 10% discount to every purchased item total over $100.

    • $140 is a damn good price for the EK 240 RGB. It's one of the best performing coolers out there, up there with the Arctic Liquid II. Genuinely a step above your typical large double tower air coolers, or the basic Asetek/ CoolIT AIO's like NZXT.

If you were going to spend $140 for a cooler this would be it

  • fantastic deal

C'mon 5900X deals! Hopefully they'll come soon enough. Or maybe 5900 will come out with a lower price.

    • -2

do you really need a 12 cores CPU?

      • +15

its not about need, its about 'want', that's the only reason anyone needs, also does anyone 'really' need anything on Ozbargain? :/

Surfing Ozbargain is worse than gambling XD (jk)

        • +2

That's a good point, 'does anyone really need anything on ozbargain'. For me most of the time I scroll through ozbargain because I'm bored and looking for a bargain is fun and most things I buy I actually don't need. I do need a cpu and GPU though for my stupid half built PC.

        5800X = 5900X that didn't quite make the cut

        • +2

Whilst that could be true of 5600x vs 5800x, the 5900x has an extra chiplet over the 5800x.

      • Im sure most people dont even need 8 cores
But we want 12 cores because we can lol.
In my case, I upgraded from 8600k to 5900x to make it worthwhile (5600x would be a side grade)

        • +4

          Hell with 12 cores, I want 16 cores :)

          • +1

            @kml22: :) Where's the godforsaken 5950x stock?

          • @kml22: LOL I have got a 3950x when it released for my main pc, and am now looking to upgrade my simracing pc to a 5800x. I'm seriously considering getting a 5950x when they are in stock and putting the 3950x in my racing rig cuz I don't like the idea of my main pc having an older CPU :)

        • Is 5900X much more future proof than 5800X and I do intend to use it for at least 5-8 years just like this 12 year old core2quad?

          • @leznix: Nope. Unless you’re running the pc for something like experimental research or video rendering.

        • +2

Considering the 5600x is equal to and beats the 10900k a lot of the times in gaming, it would hardly be a sidegrade.

      • +3

So if I have a 3600 6 core CPU then an upgrade to 8 cores is going to cost 719-6 core resale so about $480 if resale is value is high. $480 for 2 core and slight faster single core performance? That is pretty high. Thus the attraction of doubling the cores from 6 to 12. Will 12 get used with what I do? Yes. Do I want a whole separate computer with 6 cores so there are 2 computers running to get 12 core workload? No. Is it absolutely necessary to have 12 cores total? No. Would it make work better? Yes.

Don't need to OC but can use more cores.

Same thought process as me as I have a 3600 as well, thanks for spelling it out so I have the willpower to resist this deal!!!

      • +3

People have different use cases. I run VM's at home, I got a 5900X, but am thinking maybe should have got a 5950X for the extra cores

      • I need 32 cores…

      • No I need 16 cores 😉

  • +2

I literally bought these two things in the last few weeks. Boo . Excellent price.

  • Comes up as 799 for me

    • Nevermind, need to add and go to cart.

      • Yeah, the 10% discount is added when you check out.

  • I currently have a i5-7600. Should I spend $900 to get this and the B550 Mobo deal to go with my current ram (16GB DDR4 2666 Mhz) or should I just wait for DDR5?
I currently have a GTX 970 and am looking for an RTX 3080 or a 6800 XT. My current thinking is

    A) To get a graphics card first then wait a year or so for the AM5 socket then upgrading my CPU
    B) Just buy a new techfast/titan etc system with a 3080/6800XT since I probably wouldn't get a GPU at a good price otherwise
    C) Getting on this deal then upgrading my graphics card whenever the GPUs go to sane prices.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    • My advice would be to get onto the 3080 sooner rather than later by whatever means necessary to start making some of the cost back through mining when not gaming. I've made $700+ since the start of the year and that was starting with a 3070 for some time before finding one of these.

TL;DR: Acquire 3080 asap and wait for other deals you like.

Keep a eye on reddit megathread or discord channel.

IMO: Also depending on what card some have lacking memory cooling which reduce your hashrate and require thermal pad mods especially if you looking at 3080.

Really up to you, do you want something now or keep waiting for next best thing.

There are good models without any throttle issues for sure. I got an Asus TUF OC getting 101.8/MHs 👌

        • Only bad brand is gigabyte and msi, I have most of the other brand you can buy in Australia and they run no issue

      • And how much was your power bill?

  • I want to buy into ryzen. But am still waiting resolution on the usb issues.

    • +1

You can get a 400 series motherboard with no USB issues.

    • +2

Mobo manufacturers are starting to post beta bioses addressing this so hopefully shouldn't be too much longer

      • Fantastic news. I'll wait and see that it's truly fixed first. But now I'm very hopeful.

Looks like it will be $699 between 9-10PM on Sunday night for epic hour.

    • +1

looks like epic hour is 120mm not 240mm
