Store in title.
BTW, be interested to hear if it's any different than a $50 cheapie WiFi extender. For that price you can almost go mesh.
Gigabit ethernet port is a big difference over a lot of entry level meshes, important if you have a desktop with no wifi adaptor somewhere.
Can I chuck a mobile sim into this?
Physically? Probably.
Functionally? No, wrong product.
Any advice on chucking a Telstra Sim into a 4g modem.
Nighthawk m2 or …
Used tens of them at work. Good devices. Batteries fail hard.
If you intend to leave it powered, yoink the battery out.
@MasterScythe: When the battery is out and plugged in it just keeps restarting.
Got one from Telstra today
@stickymoo: Ah, there were a few that did that, it's usually the 'surge' from the bootup.
Try letting it boot THEN unplugging it, or using a higher amperage 5v supply.
@MasterScythe: I did an update and it fixed the issue now.
Any advice on an external antenna?
I've used a Huawei b818 using Optus 4G. Great speeds because of carrier aggregation. Bought one used on eBay for around $180?
used Kogan $25-$30 extender works like magic for me
The $5 Xiaomi one I got a while back works fine for me too. Probably not max speed but it all depends on your needs.
The only ones I can see on Kogan's website in that price range are all Wireless-N 300Mbps extenders. Those might not even be able to take full advantage of 100M nbn, let alone anything faster. This is a Wireless-AC 1750 extender that can easily handle 250M nbn.
Does this double your data downloads?
Not at all. Your internet is only as fast as the incoming connection.
If you mean speed; no, its a repeater, so it will halve them. However it will 'double' your range.
