its native res is 720p. Only supports 1080p

  • +2

    720p native resolution
    Lumens aren't mentioned… not surprisingly.
    Read the reviews. Just saying.

$161 for a native res of 720p is a no go. There are many below that price, one as low as $90.

re no go - i'd say it depends,

if it had 4K lumins id say it would be a bargain..

      something like this:
      https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07WH4JNJ5/ref=vp_d_pb_TIER4_cm…

id go as far as spending that much for it.. (though would prefer to get it on sale at around 150 as it has been in the past - looks like its going for about 150 AUD from the US store.)

is it 'real' lumens or 'chinese' lumens? if the former that's pretty decent.

  • +1

I'm not buying a projector people keep stumbling on. Sounds like it could be painful.

  • Lol. That's one way of looking at it. But you can see on the big screen how badly you are hurt.

  • +2

720p for this price isn't bad - I remember 480p being the standard and still mostly is for budget projects (heavily bolded budget).

Mentioning 1080p like they are should be stopped, but if others are they are kind of forced to do that as well. The Ozbargain post is right though - because HD is still 720p. Full HD being 1080p.

OP is right that there is definitely places selling if for above $300aud too.

    • Even AusPost has native 720p for much cheaper than this: https://auspost.com.au/shop/product/thomson-720p-hd-projecto…

      • That thing has been "on sale" for 3+ months now.

      • 160 ANSI Lumens.. Lol.. Good luck trying to watch anything other than in pitch black wilderness under a new moon.

    • I bought a 720p in 2003 or 2004, no way I'd ever buy anything less than that in this day and age.

720p is decent but you really want 1080p or higher for big screen entertainment.

  • I keep seeing 'portable' and think it has a battery, or runs off 12v.
For a portable, 720p would be fine.
Honestly, even 480p looks good at 10' away at regular tv size (42" etc).

  • Any recommendations for a decent projector for 2-3m viewing distance.

    Looking to spend around $100.
    Thanks in advance.
