  • I have this keyboard and it is very noisy compared to other mechanical keyboards I have used. If I had known how noisy it was I probably wouldn't have purchased it.

    • Which one would you buy in hindsight?

      • Either a Razor branded or Logitech. I guess you get what you pay for. The other brands are double if not triple the price of the Kogan keyboards.

    • which switch did you buy?

      • The blue.

        • oh yeah, noisiest switch out of the three :p

        • It's the blue switch that is loud not the keyboard itself.

Any keyboard with the same switch will sound about the same.

  • I bought one of these Kogan keyboards but got faulty within a couple of months. Tab key would sometimes work and sometimes not work. Got a replacement but that one got faulty within a month, the M key sometimes would work and sometimes wouldn't.

I'd recommend spending your money on a decent keyboard instead.

    • Any recommendations of a similar keyboard?

    • Same thing happened to me. I purchased a brown switch that lasted a year before the W key started to go. When I purchased a replacement it only lasted a month before going faulty.

Ended up getting an Akko 3068 on sale for $100

    • I bought one year's ago and still going strong. I have a feeling the quality may have dropped over time because I'm reading a few complaints from people, but mine is awesome never skipped a beat.

  • I bought the "short" brown switch version of this keyboard (no numpad) about 2 weeks ago. One thing to note - you can't change the colour of the keys - only the pattern they light up in.

    • Not true it's full RGB you can change the colours and the patterns.

      Edit:

There are 13 different default backlight modes - press FN+INS to switch between.

To cycle through different colour options, press FN+DEL to switch between.

I think you might be confusing it with this one: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-full-rgb-mechanical-keybo…
I also have one of those and yes it does have different colour options for each key.
The one listed here is not full RGB for each key. I downloaded and checked the manual from the listing - there is no FN + DEL option - only FN + INS.

The price you pay matches the quality. I bought one for the work laptop (kogan) and i have a mech for my personal computer (razer) and the difference is pretty large. I'm not suggesting you dont buy it, but just calling out, when you're paying $30….. don't expect the quality of a $200 keyboard

    • I commented above that I think the quality may have dropped along the way because I'm reading a bunch of complaints about them. But the one I bought years ago (when they still printed "Kogan" on it) is awesome and still going strong, hasn't missed a beat. Maybe they changed manufacturers somewhere along the way

Yes, they have. I bought one of the originals that still sported Cherry switches (Browns, in my case) and it's still going great. The current crop definitely use a vastly different switch as it doesn't feel, or last, the same. These are great as a first-time mechanical purchase, or as a short-term replacement.

  • Does anyone know how to replace the keys? I accidentally damaged the ESC key and want to replace it with other key that i don't use often? Is there a you tube video that shows how to replace the keys for the Kogan RGB Mechancial keyboard? TIA

    • If it's just the keycap you'll need a lifting tool, should be able to buy them for cheap off eBay or AliExpress

  • These are awful, have bought a few and they all have keys that randomly don't output keypresses. Annoying when typing, aggravating in games. Save your money

  • Imo these are not worth buying. I went through two of them, first arrived with a faulty key, on further inspection it had a dry solder joint. Both had crooked keycaps, one on the numpad, the other in amongst the letters. The translucent layer in the keycaps was a different colour on each board, so I couldn't swap keycaps between the keyboards and make one 'good' one. The brown switches were really rough feeling, like they had sand stuck in them, the springs pinged a lot, which reverberated through the plastic case and could not be dampened with o-rings or insulating material. Ultimately I flogged them off cheap at a loss and bought something from a more reputable manufacturer. Imo, at $30, you might just be better off with a rubber dome based office keyboard.

  • since the last time this keyboard was posted, the two i use regularly ($30 brown switch and TKL blue switch) are still working okay (8 months and 10 months old, respectively), even with their intermittent key issues (right shift key and win key, respectively). it hasn't gotten worse, backlighting still works on all keys.

i've been meaning to buy a more expensive keyboard but despite there being so much choice out there, i still can't find one that has all the features/form factor i want and at a reasonable price.
