Recommendations for a Soundbar (2.1 or 3.1), to pair with a LG CX, budget ~$700

Hi there,

I'm looking for a Soundbar to pair with my new TV, it's in quite a small room to there wouldn't be any room for rear speakers, so either a 2.1 or 3.1 channel would be best. Looking for best value for money, mostly just watching movies and playing video games, never any sport etc. Budget approx ~$700

From what I've seen would this be a good option? Yamaha ATS-2090 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/608418

Also heard good things about the Samsung HW‑T650, $399 at the moment.

Thanks!

For your situation, this is the best: https://www.harveynorman.com.au/jbl-bar-5-1-soundbar-with-wi…

Usually $1k but on special currently for $795 - close to your stated budget. You get 5.1 surround with wireless detachable rear speakers (i.e. can leave them attached to the soundbar or remove and place them for great movies/games with surround sound).

Could you not get a Sonos or Bose kit on marketplace around one $1k ?

    • Have had a look, but can't see any of the modern Sonos bars for sale in my area.

Does it have to be a soundbar? Personally I'd be going for the largest 2.1 kit with a sub I could fit if you want immersive sound in movies and games.

As I often say on these threads, I don't really understand why people get a top tier OLED TV and then get a comparatively poor sound bar set up.

    • I was just thinking in terms of ease, are there any larger set ups you would recommend? Tbh I've extended my budget and I'm looking at the Samsung Q950T with the rear speakers, but open to a 'proper' system.
