Screen for Raspberry Pi

My teenager is asking for a screen to connect to his raspberry pi. I guess he’d probably also like to be able to connect his iPad to it at some stage. Any suggestions?

  • I'm not familiar with all the Pi models but the 3 and 4 at least both have HDMI ports so you can connect it to anything with HDMI. As for the ipad, never used one but some kind of terminal app and a remote connection should be easy.

Try a VNC app on your phone or tablet.

    • Oh yes good thought! Will give VNC viewer a go!

Similar to above - enable RDP on the pi and connect through the RDP app?
The only downside is that you need a Wifi/Ethernet connection for it to work.

You can buy second hand full hd computer monitors with HDMI ports for just a few tens of dollars on Facebook Marketplace. With a Raspberry Pi 3, you'll also need a standard HDMI to HDMI cable; with a Raspberry Pi 4 you'll need a micro HDMI to standard HDMI cable.

Get a cheap used monitor or use vnc

Or even learn command line and just use ssh.
