  • Is this Gen 5?

I was about to neg you but I checked the revisions and realised @scrimshaw fixed the post. I feel like I am becoming a more sophisticated member each day :)

  • $149 is still extremely steep for a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor. It was already mediocre for 2017 standards and a full charge barely lasts a day. Hold out for deals on a watch with the new 4100 processor as it's the first decent leap which makes WearOS useable.

    • Even the Gen-4 Snapdragon 3100 models are decidedly un-snappy.
Gen-5 with same SoC but 1GB of RAM works much better, and have recently been posted here at the same price.
I would not be buying any Gen-4 in 2021.

I purchased one in the last deal with Amazon for $149. Although I understand what menoe is saying that the specs are nothing to get excited about, however I have found the watch to be quite effective in what I needed it for - namely notifications, Google Fit, and time keeping (who would have thought!) . It lasts a full day for me getting down to about 45% after a 14 hour wearing, using the Google Fit display whilst doing both weight training (40mins) and treadmill (30 mins) .

    Don't buy.

Gen 4 with only 512mb ram. Also uses 45hz screen so even though WearOS renders at 60hz, it can't keep up. So laggy swipes are even laggier and choppier.

  • Got one of these at Jb's last sale. Love having for notifications while i'm at work and it looks nice

  • Harvey Norman's got them for $148 too.

  • I replaced my 5 year old Huawei watch which needed charging every 6 hours with a Fossil gen 5.
now I only have to charge my watch every 12 hours :/
(gps off, screen off, wifi off, ok Google off)
emailed fossil to return it, no response so far :(

now I know what range anxiety is…

  • I just got that Garrett one, the red and blue. Is it gen 4 or 5? If gen 5 then please avoid gen 4.
For me gen 5 is not good enough, can't imagine gen 4…..

  • Had mine since they came out, still lasts a day per charge. Just turn off the gesture based screen turn on (I have always on instead) and the auto google voice recognition (can use the button press instead). Yes it's laggy, if I were buying one now, I'd definitely get the Gen 5 but I still get compliments on the Gen 4.
