Old HP Desktop Power on No Response

I have an old HP ultra slim desktop (USDT) desktop DC7900 refused to response when I push Power On button since yesterday. There is no fan, no noise, no beep. No flashing LEDs on the front panel like HP troubleshooting website indicates. The only thing is the orange LED on the motherboard inside the box as in the picture. I have download all the manual, reference guide, etc and nothing helps.

I tried to remove all the memory and disks and it made no difference. I have another working HP newer model USDT, the motherboard LED is green. The external PSU is working on the other HP desktop.

Does any one experience this on a HP computer or has any documents telling what does this LED mean? Thanks.

  • I would google the mobo model and 'error codes'

    likely the power supply died…

if you have a spare one handy, try that first…

      thats more like it

  • Not just some mechanical glitch on the switch. Sometimes fancy pushbutton on/off switches get sticky?

  • Unplug the cables to your OS drive & optical.

Remove the CMOS battery. Hold the power button in for 30 secs. Leave the battery out.

Remove the RAM and wipe w/alcohol. Vac or blow out the RAM slots. Reinstall 1 stick of RAM.

Disconnect the rear case fan. (have had them failing & take everything down with it).

See if you can power up to BIOS and load defaults. If button doesn't work, find the two pins to bridge and remove the front header caps, then bridge with a flathead screwdriver.

See if you get back to BIOS.

Add items, one at a time, starting w/CMOS battery.
