Need Suits Asap

So I'm getting married on Sunday, bought myself and my nephews suits a month ago and was told by wife to be that the rest of the groomsmen will take care of their suits in a matching colour to bestman ( my nephew). Now I find out none of them have found any and its my responsibility to find light grey suits for cheap in Sydney.

Any suggestions other than screaming at the sky in impotent rage?

    Currently streaming on Netflix.

    Have a look at Tarocash.

In all seriousness, it won't be a big deal having different coloured suits for the groomsmen. Don't dwell on it, there'll be plenty of other things to worry about on the day! Good luck!

Tell that to the bride if she’s been brainwashed into having unrealistic expectations and thinks everything has to be “perfect”.

Yep and now its my fault that even though they are her friends and family and had 3 months to find suits for themselves they don't have them

Plenty more bridezilla's in the sea my dude.

Sorry to say this, but it sound like you’re getting close to paddling up a certain creek this late in the week.

You might get lucky if you ring every suit hire and budget suit retailer you can find and be prepared for ill-fitting suits and to pay a premium. Might even be worth checking target, Kmart, myer etc?

If all else fails there is one option that is so stupid it might just work, or fail spectacularly. Bad fashion is somehow back in fashion. Buy light grey tracksuits with zipper tops, white t-shirts, black polished leather shoes, and either newsboy caps or flat caps. Everyone will be matching, and it will “unique” despite it being the trend however many years ago it was. Bonus points if you can find grey adidas 3 stripe tracksuits for that gopnik look. Good luck.

        • Don't worry it was my fault I got outbid on a house, 2 hours after my offer was accepted. Apparently I should have offered more than what they accepted after it was accepted. I was given no chance to counter offer. Still my fault of course.

          • @Donaldhump: I always follow up my offer with a higher counter offer just to be certain. Sometimes I start a high stakes bidding competition with myself… always seem to just get edged out by myself.

        • It's not too late. You'll take a hit with the non-refundable deposits but you'll save in the long run compared to the divorce.

Simple, get a new bride :)

Think of this as a test of things to come. Congrats to the new couple!

    • isn't a test when the questions are impossible to answer and guaranteed to fail.

      • that itself is the test :)

  • Is worth having a look at one of the suit hire places? They might be able to do the alterations quickly and you might get the matching colours. Either way, good luck on Sunday, I'm sure which every way the suits go you'll have a blast.

  • Take it as an omen and run while you can :D

  • Tell her you're ditching the groomsmen, and by extension, the bridesmaids.

Does Kelly country still have those late night ads? What about "at lowes"?

    • love the Kelly country ads

      wasn't it 2 suits for 99 bucks

      what a bargain

      • Kelly Country is our Jos A Banks. God knows how they can make and ship a suit for $89.

    Any particular budget?

Oxford Jacket + Trousers for around $239. Could probably negotiate for a discount if buying multiple.

If you are lucky on such short notice, some of the wedding suit hire places may have some stock.

  • Either hire (If quality is important)
or head to Tarocash/YD and grab a polyester special for $100 or so.

As long as it's not boiling hot no one will really care.

Try https://www.kellycountry.com.au/ , but I have no idea if they are good or bad or cheap or dear.

Is there a reason you didn’t all buy decent fitted suits? What were her relatives doing? Waiting for the ultimate bargain or just being lazy??

Do your relatives to be know their rough suit size?

Have her relatives meet you at your house tomorrow first thing and drive around to a few hire places. Bring your suit so you can get as close to as possible matches colour wise. I assume they all need black shoes as well?

Good luck. You’re going to need it.

  • Tarocash

    • Agreed. Quality isn't amazing, but they have a store everywhere so your lazy guests can do their own shopping

St Vinnies… they always have suits.

Not to kill your mood bro. The wedding should be the best moment of your life.
But this is your wedding bro. It's your event.
You know the groomsmen. Whether they are her friends or not that's just using the blame game.
    Take some responsibility.
You should know what is sorted and what isn't sorted (at least for the boys side).
You sorted yourself and your best man, but relied on remaining boys to sort themselves out and let them hanging, and left it too late. If they're your groomsmen then they're equally important as the best man.
Pick up your game bro. This is only a small hiccup on your journey to marriage.
If you can't sort this out, what else is gonna come at you during marriage that's gonna be 100x more difficult!

Go to Connor (most shopping centres have it) and grab a $100 suit. There is plenty of them.
Finding 2 pairs of the same colour is not that hard bro. The staff will even call other stores to find the size for you.
Every shopping centre has clothing alterations aswell.

Avoid pointing the finger as it shows true character on a small hiccup. You can do much better. All the best.

I was told they were taking care of the suits themselves as they were not really mine but from the bride to be side. I did ask and was told they were going to be able to get them with the knowledge of what colour they were meant to be. I got the ties and pocket squares for them to make it easier and even told them were the suits could have been gotten from at the time but they waited and they're sold out. Had already looked at tarocash as a possible replacement location so I'm hoping to be able to get from there. Also in desperation I've started looking at gumtree and marketplace

Honestly mate sounds like a shit show from start to finish. Bride picking out your groomsmen just doesn’t sound right to me.

  • Roger David.

They have suits already made for sale.

    • like 2 years too late…

      • Ahh.. I'm going off my Melbourne experience. Yes, Roger David dead in Sydney.

        • +1

          also in Melbourne

          • @dasher86: Didn't seem that long ago when I bought items from Glen Waverley Roger David.

Oh well. Scrub my suggestion then OP.

  • Mate try David Jones or Myers clearance shop in the CBD. Ring them. They had a floor full of cheap suits. I'm not sure if it was a permanent fixture or a few months pop up.

    • +1

      They don't exist any more.

  • She sounds like a catch.

  • There's a menswear shop in the Stockland Piccadilly arcade which was advertising suits for $150 yesterday.

  • Suit city in fairfield if you are willing to travel. I remember getting one in 4 days for another urgent matter.

  • +1

You can rent suits. If it's a wear-once occasion then why buy.

  • Mate!! Take my advice! RUNNNnnn!

  • Any updates OP ? How did you go?

    • I think I got it sorted. I even got a couple spare for the ones that did take care of their own to make sure I can Frankenstein something together in an emergency
