Is Google Nest Mini Wi-Fi Compatible/Future Proof for Land Line Requirement for Home Medical Emergency Alert Device?

Looking for any opinions or alternative recommendations please!

An elderly friend who is very unsteady on their feet (already badly fallen a couple of times and will get worse with time) needs a wifi extender or something to improve internet.

Uses tv, netflix, laptop, pc - not really into gaming.

I was going to suggest he buys Google Nest Mini Wifi 3 (with additional google home voice assistants for complete room voice coverage), so that if he falls he is able to get google to ring a friend (or 000 if he gets Telstra) from wherever he is at home (home layout unknown as currently looking for single storey place to move to).

But I'm thinking down the line he may end up with one of those monitored personal alarms that needs a land line (he wouldn't choose than now).
Is Google Nest Mini Wifi compatible (NBN & non NBN) please?
And if not (in which case he could presumably just get Google home voice assistants for each room) what mesh router would you recommend that is future proof compatible?

Many thanks.

already badly fallen a couple of times

Shouldn't be in a nursing home? or some 24 hr care. Possibly some sensors next to the bed (if off the bed)?

I think apple watch can detect falling.

Any Wifi connection will do but it's only for voice talk. You should get something like Google home max with a camera?

I would guess most of the mobile alarms into the future are probably going to be Mobile/SIM-based. I don't believe the google mesh system would be compatible with a landline-based alert system out of the box, but you may be able to make it work, would depend on the model I assume.

  • Google Nest Mini Wifi 3

1 Nest Wi-Fi router and 2 Nest Wi-Fi points or 3 of the Nest Mini?

If he goes with Telstra you have no option but to use the Telstra smart modem for guaranteed TC-1 voice and purchase the Telstra smart Wi-Fi booster or a mesh router and configure it as an access point to improve the Wi-Fi. Telstra is the only ISP that does priority assistance.

Look into a 4G medical alarm pendant that calls emergency services and contacts.

The complication is that your elderly friend would need a Telstra mobile phone line to do this. It can't be done with any other mobile phone provider, or an NBN land-line.

See link below, where Telstra mobile number is specifically mentioned.
