  • Very tempting. I see seven USB ports and HDMI which is what I'm after.

Is it just me or does the Centrecom website scroll like mad when using Opera browser and freeze when using Chrome, also on mobile?

    • Works fine on Safari browser

    • Work fine on both Chrome and Edge for me.

    • If that's all you're after, this b550 mobo for the same price also has rear IO HDMI and seven USB type A ports, with only two of them being USB 2.0 compared with four on the ASRock board. Has no rear panel type C. Wifi if matters to you.

Also, B550 boards are not compatible with Ryzen 3000 series APUs, are you waiting for Ryzen 5000 APUs?

      • I'm not sure what I want in terms of CPU. This mobo looks good (I don't mind if it has features I'll never use). It will be for playing World of Warcraft and various Epic games. I have a GTX 1650 which I may upgrade at some point.

My CPU choice is based on nice and fast, 300-400$ and low power so the fan isn't loud.

        • Ah yeah, I just mentioned the CPU because the HDMI output won't get any use if you don't have an integrated graphics CPU. And there are currently no integrated graphics CPUs that are compatible with this board.

          I guess otherwise you'd probably just want a Ryzen 3 3300x or 5 3600.

          • @BurningCubez: Oh snap, that may be a deal killer.. I guess I can live without HDMI as it's only there for backup if my video card dies

          • @BurningCubez: I'm a bit confused as to why this mobo has HDMI, but no compatible CPU. Is this why it's going cheap?

            • @Loopholio: I don't think so - most people who game (as far as I know) don't buy Ryzen processors with integrated graphics (aka an APU). You pay a premium for an APU. So the HDMI in these chipsets isn't really a selling point for anyone who doesn't buy an APU.

I guess Ryzen 5000 series APUs will come out eventually? I'm not really waiting for them

Look at the table here if you want to know which chipsets are compatible with which processors. only "processors with radeon graphics" will output through hdmi https://www.amd.com/en/chipsets/b550

  • Newbie here. How does this compare vs

    ASRock (X570-Phantom Gaming 4) AMD X570/4xDDR4/2xPCIEx16/HDMI/DP/M.2/USB3.2/ATX Motherboard? $249

    Value for money wise ?

    • +1

I would still go for B550 PG Velocita. More value in it.
Last time I used a x570 Aorus Pro and I hated the Fan sound on the chipset

    • +1

First impression is that the Velocita VRM has a better designed VRM.

Because it uses intergrated power stages instead of using one high MOS and one low MOS for each phase.

Further, Velocita has a higher number of phases granted there are better indicators of how well the VRM is designed.

Lastly, on the Velocita you'll get a a USB type C header and two extra rear i/o port with one of the ports being USB type C Gen 2.

  • Is it there are shortage again with computer parts? Almost all 1200 motherboard out of stock from supplier.

    • Not sure with Intel

  • This or B550 Taichi?

    • The Taichi is the higher end model. They're actually quite similar but the Taichi is a bit more higher end, has WiFi (worth $50 on it's own), a third full size PCIE slot (which may or may not go to waste), 4 extra USB 3.1 G2 ports, 2 extra SATA ports, better VRM's, better memory controller (both are pretty overbuilt tbh), bios flashback and clear CMOS switches (very handy for overclocking), display port on the back (but who's really going to use this with an APU anyway?). Intel LAN on the taichi vs realtek on the Velocita (intel is generally seen as superior). It also has a backplate lol

If you need WiFi the Taichi is a no brainer since they're going to cost almost similar amounts after a WiFi card. If you don't need WiFi or the extra features of the Taichi you can save some money with this.
