Thoughts on 2x 34" Curved Monitors for Work - Overkill?

Hey

I am redesigning my work space and in need of some new monitors.

Currently use 2 x 27" monitors and its perfect for work but since I am a big baller I usually have the basketball on one of the screens so im limited to working on one screen.

If I get 2 x 34" curved monitors then I can work on one and use the other to have the games/youtube on all day .

What are people's thoughts on 2 x 34" monitors. Would it be overkill? Would it look funny.

Also what 34" curved monitors do you recommend.

Thanks

  • I use two 34" stacked at home, I love it.
Work or game on the bottom, nba/youtube/netflix on the top.

    • oh i didn't think about stacking them
the way i wanted to have them lined up is to have one in front of me as if it was a single monitor then have one on the side of that. as opposed of having them both in the middle where i would see the bezel right infront of me and always looking to the side and never in the middle.

which 34" do you have? I am struggling to find ones I like.

      • I got a Kogan one and a a crossover 34.
I tried the side by side but prefered the stacked better for my uses.

    • Curious, how do you actually stack one on top of another? Special monitor arm?

      • Yep, it was a tall monitor mount from Amazon, attaches to desk.

  • Keep in mind if you have a single very large monitor you can open very large excel spreadsheets, CAD, GIS, photos, movies on all your real estate which you can't do with two monitors. Also most laptops can only drive 1 monitor, not 2. Of course depends on your use.

  • I don't have 2x 34, but have 1x 34 (curved) and 2x 27 (flat).

People in the past have commented about too much movement in the neck (side to side) etc, but I'm fine with mine.

Just be mindful that with my Xiaomi 34, it doesn't have a 'snap' function easily accessible for the software. Well not one like the monitor 'snap' where you can simply fill the screen with the open app. Might be a first world problem, but if you're relying on dragging an open software to the side of the monitor to snap it to half the screen, then you might overshoot and enter into the dual-screen (second screen) area.

    • I have 1x34 curved and 1x 27 flat side by side, with the same vertical height.

Using the Samsung LC34H892 curved and a Dell S2721DGF flat. Both are connected to my desktop via DP, and then the Samsung to my work laptop via USB-C for charging, screen, audio and USB peripherals, then the Samsung to my work laptop via HDMI. I wish I could consolidate that to 1 plug but for the price available at the moment I'll stick with 2 cables.

I find the 34" gives me enough space to do 80-90% on it alone and the second screen is generally just teams/outlook and occasionally another document/spreadsheet if I need to refer multiple things at once.

    • I find with W10 you need to slow down and it'll snap. Go fast and you'll go straight to the next screen.

There'd be software solutions that have preset window placements.

Keep in mind that those sorts of injuries don't necessarily happen quickly but can build up over time/as you get older. Just because you don't notice any issues on a day-to-day basis doesn't mean it won't cause issues down the track.

      • ^ RSI is a b!tch

get a physio or occupational therapist to check your set up

  • Whats a big baller? is this something done in public toilets?

    • google BBB big baller brand - lavar ball in the building baby

Lamelo gonna shake up the world!

      • Why do you have so much enthusiasm for a marketing gimmick (and shoe line) that has now failed?

I'll agree that LaMelo is playing spectacularly though.

        • i don't, its just a bit of a laugh

Lavar is a marketing gimmick and basically a t shirt shop lol

What I do respect, is a father who has a son go number 2 in the NBA draft and another son go number 3 in the NBA draft.

LaMelo has been playing amazing for someone so young.

As he matures, his shot will hopefully develop and he will be a star.

    • +1

Dell website pricing is like that so they can do 'deep discounts'

      • LOL that should be illegal. I would understand if it was 10-20% more but not 100% lol

      • And to lure the occasional sucker who pays full freight.

  • Had 2 27 inch monitors at work and felt they were oversized.
traded down to 2 22 inchers and have never been happier. I feel thats my sweetspot.

Although if i had the choice i'd probably get a single 34 inch ultrawide and be done with it, 2 if i guess you wanted to put a youtube video on or something above you?

2 34 inchers side by side would be overkill, i wouldn't want to be sitting some 70cm from my 55 inch TV screen

  • I have 32 and 27 flat both 1440p, which is perfect for me

  • Get a third screen just of sports. USB graphics adapter should be fast enough for this.
