  • Must resist…. This was on GamePass and I played it…

    • Get this instead to justify the purchase as I do not believe season passes and DLC are all included on Game Pass:

Just to note that the Ultimate Edition does not include all DLC, just season pass 1 and 2, plus one extra character.

It's still a good deal, but not everything.

        • +1

not even close to everything … there's season pass 3 and 4, the publisher calling it ultimate is just misleading.

  • Done

  • great game

  • Great game. 1 vs 1 me anyone? :)

    • +3

U don't want none of this Steve pain train

      • +2

        I'll try you gov anytime.

        • Ah shiet haha ok I'll go online Tomo

          • +2

@agalea101: Nobody beats Jin in Tekken 3 flame pants attire

    • Try that on my kazuya

      • I will dick jab to punish any hell sweeps like a boss

        • Haha that sounds hella shady my dude lol

But I know what you mean.

  • having to buy the rest of the characters because they're now locked DLC is a big no from me.

    • +4

$6.99 for 36 characters in a game that has received continued support from the developers since its console release? If you compare this to Street Fighter, they had 34 playable characters after 3 DLC seasons. Paying for the additional characters isn't really a problem to support the continued additional content and free balance patches.

    • the only good dlc characters are geese and armor king. meanwhile in the base game there are over 10 super solid characters

    • +1

The old season passes (1, 2 and 3) are also 50-70% off at the mo too, so around $55 AUD for base and 3 season DLCs.

  • +2

Thanks, just got it. Even cheaper than the US store deal right now.
On an unrelated note, have been away from the PS scene for a while, but when did the store web UI become so garbage.. Christ.

    • +3

A few months back now. It's woeful. They want you to use the app which is now slightly better, but really I think we'd all be much happier if they gave us back the old store. It was tired and very much in need of an overhaul, but not THIS overhaul.

Also, getting rid of the wishlist is just mind-bogglingly dumb for any online store.

      • Wow, that's a long time to go without basic filters & sorting, makes it really frustrating to find new games.
Though wouldn't be surprised if they're testing if removing these filters leads to more sales on more expensive titles or something similar.

        • +1

They also got rid of all the PS3 and Vita games from the web / app version of the store, so the only way to see those games is from the relevant console itself. And the PS Store on Vita, in particular, is utterly sh*tful.

Hands Up if you remember the original Tekken release on PS1. What an exciting time it was. Although I mostly played Virtua Fighter on Saturn.

    • +1

yeah, esp when the hidden characters were free and not locked behind DLC paywalls.

    • +1

That and the original Ridge Racer for PS1 - never seen anything like them on a home console at the time.

      • +1

And Daytona USA + Sega Rally, amazing feeling to be able to play that from home. No longer a distinction between arcades and home consoles.

    • +1

yes, until you realised what garbage australia/eu received with the pal version.

Exciting was when i modified my ps1 to play imports, and got to play the real versions of the games.

      • the fact that the pal version ran slower than the NTSC counterparts. Playing tekken 2 US region was so much better.

  • Can wait for cyborg Heihachi rises from the lava cut scene and throws both jin and kazuya into the volcano.

Tekken 8 the revenge return of Heihachi
    "Washi wa muteki ja!" Hahahahahaha

  • I've just ordered my PS5, Question: Can I play this on my PS5 if I purchase it?

It's been a few years since!

    • +1

Yep. You can. Just download it once you log into your account.

Pretty much all PS4 games will work on the PS5, which is not the same as saying they are all working flawlessly.

      These ones will not:

These are the PS4 games that are currently confirmed as NOT working on PlayStation 5 (as of 11 November 2020):

      • Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
      • Assassin's Creed Syndicate
      • Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India
      • Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China
      • Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia
      • DWVR
      • Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
      • Joe's Diner
      • Just Deal With It!
      • Risk
      • Robinson: The Journey
      • Space Junkies
      • Shadow Complex Remastered
      • Shadwen
      • Star Trek Bridge Crew (PSVR)
      • TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2
      • Werewolves Within
      • We Sing

This list was from November, so some of the games may have been fixed.

      • Thank you that's helpful.

When I'm on the PS site trying to look for the purchase button, it's all greyed out?

The new PS store is a buggy mess and falls well short of an acceptable standard for a major company.

          Try with another browser.

          • +1

@Xenocaust: Downloaded the mobile app on iOS, working much better!

Is there much single player content in this? I used to love playing the story/arcade modes for Tekken 2-4 when I was younger.

    • There is a single player mode but it’s pretty basic. Once you’ve completed it there isn’t a lot to do beyond online.

  • is there a decent oceanic player base? i hate playing fighting games with lag

    • I don't know about PS4 specifically but in general there is with good offline scenes (well, historically) and the game also got a major netcode update recently which helped the feel of online matches immensely.
