Grggggg. Just paid double this at CPL

    • +3

You must be like me, I spend more time looking for better prices AFTER a purchase. :(

      • +2

Thing is I searched StaticIce & eBay prior to buying. Plus looked on Amazon price history. Just lucked out

      • +7

Really, after buying something I generally avoid seeing any deals related to that item at all if possible so I don't feel hurt if I actually did see better deal

        • +1

Do not rejoice at the found, do not regret the lost. My life style.

  • Is it Ok for dashcam?

    • +1

Says good for endurance writing, so should be perfect. Endurance is specified as 256TBW for this 512GB card, so at 32 Mbit bitrate video, that would equal about 2 years of continuous non-stop writing.

    • Yep, I already use the 256GB
      Best on the market

  • Good deal for 512GB!

  • Is this ok for Nintendo switch ?

    • +2

why is not okay? because colour ?

      • Because it's really slow.

        Maximum Read Speed: 100 MB/s
        Maximum Write Speed: 60 MB/s

        vs

        Maximum Read Speed: 170 MB/s
        Maximum Write Speed: 90 MB/s

        • Fast enough for 4K video.

          • @hollykryten: Yes, but we are talking about the switch not a dash cam.

            • +1

@No Username: And the speed difference won't be really noticeable on the Switch. Unless you are loading roms….

Hollykryten is making the point that if it's fast enough for 4K video it's fast enough for the Switch, which I think is valid.

              • +1

@serideth: The faster the better. Loading time is most noticeable on Civ6, BOTW and Assassin Creed 3 Remastered. Might not be noticeable for you but makes a difference for me after upgrading from an Ultra to Extreme Pro.

                • @No Username: Logically? Sure.

However since the Ultra costs half of the Extreme Pro, if the choice is between a 512GB Ultra or the 256 Extreme Pro you would be better served with the larger cards as the few seconds difference in load times is of minor consequence.

But you might have different priorities which is totally cool as well.

If money is of no consequence then yeah buy the fastest cards out there.

edit. As the original comment was "is this okay for the Nintendo Switch?" I don't think we are out of line to say that yes this card would be very ok for the Switch even if it's not the fastest card available.

                  • @serideth: Durp. You're right. Completely forgot about pricing. I just normally buy whichever is faster but if money is an issue than WD Purple ain't too bad.

    • Would like to know too. I want to store games into it.

    • Probably slow read and write speeds…. wait for a benchmark.

    • Short answer: No.
Long answer: It depends, but if you need to ask - no.

    Shipping is $15 flat rate

How can they fit 512GB on something that tiny, boggles my mind.

    • +5

      They use TARDIS technology.

    • Seriously, I get so damn impressed by portable technology every day. My phone is so close to being to be the only device I ever need, just missing the software support for it to happen.

    • There are 1TB micro SD cards now: https://www.amazon.com.au/Sandisk-Extreme-microSDXC-Lifetime…

Crazy to think how far technology has come.

    • It is amazing; my first HDD was 4.3 GB.

      • +2

My first HDD was 22MB (yes MegaBytes) - and had to be partitioned into two 11MB drives because DOS didn't support a drive that big.

  • Is this good to put in a mobile phone?

    • +8

Not really. The more data you put in the more heavier your phone will be.

I'm assuming this is no good for the 'Imou Ranger 2 Wi-Fi 1080p Pan/Tilt Camera with Motion Tracking $39.99 Delivered @ imou eBay' given its max. accepted is 256gb?

  • out of stock now..

just online chat with staff, "Hi Roy, I have followed up with the manager and these have sold out. We are unfortunately unable to process any more orders at the special pricing."

    • Yeah it's got up to $199 but with no stock at all. I guess that's the new price.
