Product overview

Biltong.com.au is probably Australia's most popular online retailer of biltong, made from an authentic family recipe, trading since 2007. We appreciate your support.

Traditional Beef Biltong

This traditional air-dried delicacy is lovingly made from premium Aussie topside beef, and marinated in our special spice formula, which has attracted a loyal following of customers

Flavours:

Wagyu Beef Biltong

Our 'melt-in-your-mouth' wagyu beef is marbled, with a creamy texture, and a mushroomy-gamey taste, for a superior experience of 'umami'.

Beef Biltong Snapsticks

These thin biltong sticks are slightly tough like conventional jerky, for those that prefer their biltong a bit harder / tougher, without being as tough as jerky.

Flavours:

Wagyu Beef Jerky (New!)

Delicious melt-in-your-mouth strips of succulent Wagyu Beef topside, baked to perfection, ready for snacking.

Wagyu imparts a 'gamey', mushroomy taste of umami, and the higher 'marbling' (intramuscular fat) gives it a "melt-in-your-mouth" texture that other beef simply lacks.

welcome to my list of friends billy tong

I've been on the lookout for a special on biltong for a while! Thanks. :)

    • If I may ask, how hot is the chilli garlic sauce?

      • +2

        Hi Kajain,
we have 2 products with Chilli-garlic:

The Traditional Biltong - Chilli Garlic flavour it's mild to medium, but very tasty.
The Biltong snapsticks - Garlic & Chilli flavour is medium heat.

We don't do very hot flavours, although that's something we are working on.

Please note that chilli can be a subjective thing, and there is some minor variance from piece-to-piece. A certain percentage of the population is sensitive to chilli and may find even mild chilli to be spicy.

Mild is perfect for me! Last time I bought jerky I accidentally got about a kilo of painfully hot stuff I had to cry my way through – so I thought best to double-check. :)

Just picked up a 485g bag of each of the traditional flavours. Can't wait to try them out.

        • My order arrived today! Just decanting it into little snaplock bags now. Really tasty stuff. Cheers.

    Thanks Lorraine.

Would recommend guys, my go-to biltong.

  • +1

Well my order's in. Need something to cure lockdown depression…

edit: does that count as a reason for order priority?

  • I usually stick to jerky as find biltong to be too 'wet', any recommendations if any are suitable?

    • +1

      Traditional has a dry option?

I love jerky but this is my first biltong order so not sure what I'm in for.

      • Bugger, only the chilli garlic does - and its sold out

        • +1

"Original flavor" comes up with moistness options for me.

    • +1

These guys let you customize your order to the wetness or dryness you like. Stick to the dry if you are more of a jerky guy.

    • Perhaps try the Beef Biltong Snapsticks which are 'dry' and more tough like jerky.

orderded 1kg great price thanks guys! hope to be a returning customer, hopefully here by the weekend(perth)

  • No ingredient list?

Great price! Just about on par with what it costs to make at home, and that's saying something 🍻

Which one is the real hard, tough red skin type biltong? That feels like you’re ripping your teeth out?

    • Red skin? I'm not sure what you're referring to there.

For something tough and a bit challenging: You may be interested in the snapsticks which are dry and a bit tough, however because they're made as thin sticks, they're relatively easy to eat.
But if you really wanted a challenge and something to gnaw on for a long time, you could order 'whole' / 'unsliced' of our traditional biltong, and preferably 'dry'. Normally people would slice this up themselves, but if you leave it whole you could gnaw on it over a long time.

      • Thanks Op! I meant the Redskin Lilly/candy, autocorrect split it out. Does the above still apply? Excited if so!

How long can these keep for? Like, I want to order a kilo but I don't want to have to eat a kilo within a week or something lol

      • Freeze the biltong (in plastic) (Can last several months / indefinitely)
Biltong freezes really well and thaws very quickly.
Some customers separate the biltong into multiple zip-lock bags and freeze it.

      • Refrigerate (in an open container) (Lasts several weeks, but will dry out)
Remove the biltong from its plastic packaging and store it in the fridge in an open (not sealed) container.

      • Outside of the fridge: do not store in plastic! Store in a paper bag in a ventilated area. This should last a while but it is subject to growing mould if humidity cannot escape

      • Will it begin to take on fridge flavours in an open container?

If so, I guess I'll just freeze into 50-100g bags.

        • Hi that's a great question. I haven't experienced it taking on fridge flavours, but if I were to guess, it probably does a little bit.
Freezing tends to be optimal to lock in any moisture; the fridge is good but it dries it out, which is fine, but some people enjoy some moisture.
          I hope this helps.

        Awesome thanks for the reply!

  • Mine arrived today. Cracked open the chilli garlic and threw the other 2 bags into the freezer.

    Nom nom nom!

Am I right to empty the plastic bag into an open plastic tub and fridge? Then do the same with the frozen bags as I go through them?

    • Yes that sounds right. As long as there isn't a moisture buildup in the container it should be OK (such as moisture dripping into the container). The fridge should have a dehydrating effect on it so it should be OK. Otherwise for the short term you can pop them in a paper bag and keep it on the kitchen counter.

      • +1

Thanks. Yeah I'd have to go out and get some paper bags. I'll see how the tub goes.

Sticking with the fridge as I'm not confident some random fly won't get in there and spoil the lot if I keep em out.

  • Received my order today - I ordered the Smokey 485g (was mostly beef) and the Chilli Garlic 485g but this was about 25-30% stuffed full of herbs and spices - was expecting it to be just biltong - I weighed both and they were about 500g (including packaging)
Buyer beware on the Chilli Garlic flavour.

    • Huh? My chilli garlic bag was all meat with no more seasoning then you'd find in a pack of chips (on the meat itself).

      • Yeah pretty disappointing - the smokey one was fine.
Not sure how to upload a photo. It wouldn't be a problem if the weight was alot more, but it weighed the same as the smokey biltong package.

  • Any chance of an extension on these? I forgot to pop my order in :(

(No stress if not, you guys do a great job).
