[3 Minute Survey] AU PC Retailers

Hi all, have 3 minute survey related to what I hope is almost all of the main PC retailers in Australia
If you guys had some time to fill this out I'd be super grateful
I'm not affiliated with any of them and doing this for small self study.

Self Study? The questions look the same as marketing research surveys.

    • Ah well I'll take it as a complement. I was thinking about redesigning a pc's retailers website but it looks like there's not much point? Maybe study what is bad about some of the websites people have selected as 'bad'

  • This site can’t be reached Check if there is a typo in forms.gle.

    • Working now I think

What are you trying to justify? A new PC store? Your revolutionary business model is prices $5 cheaper than the competition? And you think that will compete with PC Case Gear consistently stocking fringe parts, Centrecom offering free delivery on many bulky items, MSY always stocking enough parts to make the system you want, even if it's not in the exact sku you want, Skycomp's decades of community engagement though computer markets or Umart's generally high stock levels?

But the PC company with the best model would be TechFast. As long as they can source parts, repeatedly building the same SKU can get build times under half an hour each (~$20 labour). And they sell whole systems so there is more profit per transaction.

What is your business structure? Set up a wholesale account or two and drop ship for low overhead?

I am not saying it can't be done, it can. And you could make reasonable money after investing all of your time and money into it over a few years.

It is a hard slog. Thinking more about your low cost value ads and points of differentiation today could save you years of low profit and frustration.

Just a self study, I was looking to redesign a pc parts website but it seems like it barely matters as most people who are into tech are already tech savvy enough to search for things and don't need websites that spoon feed / oversimplify everything. I still think pccg has the best website but looks like people aren't too picky and would rather pick prices which I do too.

      • It could work. We don't have one website dominating eCommerce as companies aren't localising for Australian tastes like they do in retail.

theres plenty of people selling their boxes for $50 on marketplace

Based on your survey I suppose people form NT do not by computer parts online?

      or the ACT

    • Oh my goodness you're right I completely forgot about Northern Territory. I was looking at it and thought that looks about right but there's something I'm missing I can't tell what.

  • Done.

  • I found ebay.com.au had a much more limited range, but by far the cheapest prices on common computer parts (often with Free Delivery). I realize the support won't be as easy as the more established outlets, but I save a lot of money. You do have to be a bit more careful to ensure the part numbers are exactly what you want, or send the seller a message before ordering.

Yeah I have a little harder of a time convincing friends to buy their parts for their pc from Ebay since they're a lot more wary about scams and etc.

  • You left out ACT and NT

    • Ah crap yeah I did forget about NT. I didn't include ACT because delivery I felt at the time would just be NSW. Correct me if I'm wrong
