Selfwealth - Won't let me sell a stock I own (trying to exit to prevent loss)

Just wondering if anyone has had any issues with Selfweath?

Currently trying to exit a position and their platform won't let me sell.

UPDATE:
An already outstanding order was in place. It was not clear in the app or on the website that this order was still in the market. This was preventing me from trading the stock.

    Have you asked them why?

    • Couldn't get through via their live chat… now all sorted.

  • Which stock?

They went into trading halt on Friday.

Error had the SELL blurred out. And when trying to sell on their app, it said I had 0 stock.

It wasn't clear that I already had an order in the market to sell at a higher price. There is no "outstanding orders" list. You have to search through your My Orders and it wasn't clear that the order was in place at a glance.

      • Ahhh yes that will do it if you already have a outstanding sell order in place. Nice and easy to fix though :)

That's really not good, sorry for the stress it would have caused.

I had trouble with selfWealth too, but I was trying to purchase more of a stock I already owned. SelfWealth would show pricing for my existing holdings, but on the buy page the code wasn't found.

I had to argue with idiots (people who won't listen to a logical argument) on thier help desk and it took weeks to resolve.

I wonder is they'll get sued for someone's loss one day.

    Hi All…

    • I was trying to get hold of Selfealth, but their live chat was not as fast as what I would have preferred (especially as a premium user)
      • No trading halt. It's trading freely.
      • Not Gamestop and not a meme stock.

I just got hold of them. Apparently, there was already a sell order in place. But it was not clear on the app or the website platform.

I've managed to exit my position.

    thanks all for the comments.

  • Are brokers legally required to execute your share orders in Australia?

I know that US Selfwealth broker appears allowed to refuse your order according to their terms.

    • There are no guarantees that an order will be placed. But if there is a fault preventing a trade, it would be difficult to avoid scrutiny by local regulatory authorities.

I can tell already by this thread you are a fish in the market feeding the sharks .

        Keep feeding em m8 :)

      • Yes the selfwealth UI is average at best. They really need to release the app update already

I guess they assumed that if you placed a sell order, that you would be aware theres a sell order

How silly of them (and of the app)

I don’t disagree. It’s definitely user error. And I should manually track my trades.

But As I have multiple trades happening at once, i have relied upon previous apps to help keep track of them. So, that additional assistance of being able to quickly see all active orders is useful. That functionality would add significantly more value to me.

I suppose I'm not as active a trader as yourself, I've not experienced that. So yes, point taken.

How silly of them (and of the app)

That is one way to think about it or they can work on their UX and help the user and let him/her know that there is already a sell order.

I don’t think it’s “silly” because people should know what orders they have placed. It’s not hard to have a general idea of the orders you have even if you have like 10 in the market. If you get to 30, 40, sure that could be a problem.

It’s definitely something they can improve in their UI though, but I would say it’s 80% user error and 20% fault of SelfWealth.
