Belong Referral Code Separation - Separate for Mobile and nbn

I've been informed that Belong referrals only work when:

  1. going from Belong NBN referring a Belong NBN, or
  2. referring from Belong Mobile to a new Belong mobile.

i.e. you do NOT get referral credits when a NBN account refers a mobile account nor vice versa.

Can we therefore make the referral code into two different ones - a Belong NBN one (to refer Belong NBN) and a Belong mobile one (to refer Belong SIMs?) This explains a lot of my missing Belong referral credits.

    • I was specifically told by Belong that they are separate…and that the reason the referral was not credited is because the mobile was referred by a NBN account. Further, this was not a mistake, but that it was policy. Hence the forum post.

    Just checked my login - the code is the same for both mobile and NBN service.

    It does track referrals and credit separately between the two services, so if someone uses my code on here, in theory I'd get the credit attached to whichever service they activate - so a new mobile sign up = a credit on the mobile account, a new NBN sign up = a credit on the NBN account.

    So if you have both it'll just work no dramas.

    If you only have one and someone signs up with the other, you're SOL like the OP said

      • See below - no difference if you have mobile and NBN, but we should be maximising referrals for the benefit of all…(i.e. no wasted referral credits).

        For those that have both, they can just put the same code in both.

    • Right. This matches what Belong said, and at least it is consistent and if you have both you are eligible for both.

      But I guess from ozbargain's perspective, I want to prevent someone signing up using a non-working referral code. e.g. a deal is posted for Belong NBN, and you get randomly assigned one that only has a mobile account. Or vice versa.

      So if someone signs up for Belong NBN, they can only get a referral code where the referrer has NBN (and not mobile). And vice versa.

  • I signed up for nbn on a new account and referred my husbands mobile, he got the credit. This was before they changed over to the new portal though

    • That is true - but the question is, did the referring NBN account also get a credit?

      Based on Belong's statement, my experience and above posts, the answer is no - and this is Belong policy. In which case, we should sign up the mobile with a referral code for someone who has a mobile account.

        • That is odd - that goes against the experience above, and goes against what Belong told me as to why I did not receive my referrals. This is from the complaints department.

          When was your mobile referral? Was the new mobile account placed on the old platform or the new platform?
