You only being able to afford Kmart furniture isn't a valid reason for a neg.
I've had the Steelcase Gesture for about 4 years now, and while I agree that it's astoundingly expensive. I've never regretted the purchase. The chair just works. And better than any other chair I've ever sat on. No back or neck pain in years. And this wasn't an affordable purchase for me either, I had to save up for a whole year, but glad I did.

Gesture with the discount is $1,335 before shipping. I can't calculate shipping without checking out (dumb site) so I have no idea whether this is a good deal.

Look locally if you can - see if you can find one to sit in. Each store seems to stock slightly different finishes/fabric so comparisons between advertised prices is a little tricky.
