Has anyone used this mob before? Some shockingly bad reviews on Google.

Can only tell you about the HDD :-D
I've had the same model for around a year in my desktop PC, it works fine. Not sure what else to tell about it.
      Purchased for $165.

a long record of poor service. Good luck anyone buying from this company.

    Terrible

@petry … a bad personal experience does not make it the same experience for all… just as the fact that I have been dealing with them (WD) for over 30 years, and have yet to have a bad experience with either their after-sales or technical support. I have found their after-sales support to be one of the best in my experience… A complete opposite to my experiences with Seagate (& others before them), which may have been unique to me.

As for the "Blue" HDDs in the title. These are the budget/economy models manufactured by WD and targetted at the consumer market as such. They are not manufactured to the exacting standards such as their Red/Red Pro drives which are designed for high and exacting demands of 24/7 operation and are used in NAS boxes etc. Making comparisons need to be made on identical competing products.

These are shipped as OEM units in plain packaging. In Australia, I can't remember the last time I saw a HDD sold in a "Retail" box. In any case, as long as you register the serial number a.s.a.p. with your manufacturer's web-site, in this case WD, from my own experiences, I have nothing but excellent support from them.

I believe @petry is talking about this seller, not WD

I was in the process of placing an order, but had a squiz of the reviews + noticed you joined yesterday (Welcome!). With the reviews aside, I have a few questions as I'm still keen/curious.

How many do you currently have in stock please? And are they Brand New, in their box, drives?

Also, regarding postage, how many days until they are sent out & will they be sent with Tracking?

    Cheers.

    • +2

We ordered in 100, brand new, will be posted with a bunch of bubble wrap around them as they don't come in packaged boxes.
Shipped out within 1 business day, depending on location most likely with either Couriers Please or Auspost, tracking details can be provided on request.

      • Are they in factory sealed packaging?

        • +2

          yes, it factory sealed

          • @BD4U-sales: 'will be posted with a bunch of bubble wrap around them as they don't come in packaged boxes.'

            Factory sealed bubblewrap?

      • Ok, sounds good!

I am ordering them for my partner - he tells me normally internal hdd's come just wrapped in plain packaging or an anti-static plastic bag (never a box) so I understand.

        Sounds like a great deal.

        I'll be ordering 2 !!

        Thank you : )

Got the item yesterday. Thanks for quick delivery. Item was factory sealed.

    • good to hear!

  • Could I please know what's the warranty on these OP?

    • same want to know. direct with WD or through the store? are they local stock? if with WD will the postage return covered as well?

      • +2

Here is the information WD provides on warranty on their drives in Australia:
        https://support.wdc.com/warranty/warrantypolicy2.aspx

You should be able to claim directly through WD and obviously you can claim through us as well. Local stock. In our experience when customers have reported they claimed directly through WD they didn't have to pay return postage.

        2 Years Warranty.

  • Initially thought it was one or the other, but the coupons stack, you can add both coupons to this deal to get the cheaper price and free shipping.

  • Thx OP order 1, see how it goes …

  • Dodgy Seller

Ordered one of these at the time and didn't notice until I saw posts on the deal by ChiMot and rifter that the seller has actually sneakily slipped in EZAZ drives (SMR) under the guise of the better EZRZ (CMR) drives. Looking at my invoice and the website it has it listed as me purchasing the EZRZ version of the drive when in fact I received a ezaz. Similar to ChiMot I also looked up the drive's warranty as the seller had been queried about it in the comments above where they said it would be via WD. However, it appears that there isn't any WD warranty due to it being distributed via systems manufacturer channels.

Contacted the seller, they said it was a mistake - however seeing as that makes 3 users (that we know of) that this "mistake" happened to, it makes it a bit suss.

We are sorry to all for this inconvenience, there was a miscommunication with WD about the drives we were receiving. The batch we received was all EZAZ rather than the EZRZ that we had expected. As comments have re-opened we ask those who wish for a remedy to contact [email protected] for either a $15 discount or to organise a return of the drive for a full refund.
